I have been eating primal for a long time now, but this is the first time, I am venturing out without dairy and without fruit. I most definitely have some more weight to lose, and I want to give a final push before the holidays.
I am not addicted to dairy, but most definitely to fruit. I know both these things--dairy and fruit (or sugar)--stall my weight loss.
I am going to do this for 15 days. I am starting today. Now. Any suggestions that will help me pull through this? Yes, other than "plain willpower" to stay away from fruit.
I am fond of plain lettuce. Never thought it would be my go-to snack, but it is. I also have it with my bacon or other meat or fish in the morning. I also keep pickles on hand for a midnight snack.
Another important tip is, get enough sleep. It doesn't seem related but it is. If I feel like crap, I eat crap.
I weigh myself every day to keep myself honest. This however can lead to anxiety if you let it. I don't know much about psychology( is that a song?) but anxiety can lead to panic which leads to all sorts of bad behaviors. A couple weeks ago I wrote 'Relax' on the weight log. I'd had it with trying for the quick weight loss. Interferes with living and working. So I did relax, and the trend is to slowly lose weight while remaining true 90/10% to the primal eating plan. I have lost dairy except my cream in the coffee in the morning, and keep fruit to a minimum. I no longer drink wine every night, and when I do I drink 1/2 glass. Watch portion size. Eat when I am hungry but take care to not overeat, by pausing after a portion and listening to my body. I am active, so I need nutrition.
I put the weight on and screwed up my metabolism over a period of years, so it may take years to fix. I've lost 28 pounds in the last two years, and I want to lose another 14 or so. If it takes me over a year, so be it.

Pre-make your meals. Make 2-3 breaksfasts ahead of time, on plates and ready to go in the frige. Have lunch ready, in compartemented containers in the freezer. And then go to the mall at night and walk around. In other words, you actually have to stay out of the kitchen as much as you can.

Thank you to everyone who replied. This was very helpful!
Yesterday went off well. I had meat and vegetables. Didnt have time to even think about the fruit. Ok, another 14 days to go!
Ook. Peppers. I need to do that. Thanks.
It's weird that you mention it, but I used to be a fruit fiend. I would eat fruit. . . oh 4-6 pieces a day? Lots of fruit.
I went primal about two years ago, and cut back to 1-2 pieces a day. And now, I'm looking at it, and I realize I haven't had fruit in 3 days. That's interesting!
I think you'll be a-ok.cut veggies are great.
