Does she have a favorite running store? Get her a gift card there
I love gift cards!
So, I'm looking for a gift for my mom, a runner. I hate running, so I have no idea what runners use/like/need. That said, I like to support her endeavors, and my stepdad's gift are all bike-related, so I thought I'd get her a runner...thing.
But what?
It's her third-tier gift (not the big gift, and not the second-biggest gift), so i'm looking for something relatively inexpensive (no HR monitors) that is still useful. When I asked her for ideas, she said "socks", but come on. Socks? Really? I was kind of hoping for something a little more fun.
So, dear runners, what kind of running gifts do you love getting?

Socks really...well yea...get her a pair of Swiftwick brand socks #2 in her size..she will be happy.
Food!
A kettlebell - not kidding either, if she can incorporate swings to strengthen her posterior chain it will improve her running.
Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.
PS
Don't forget to play!
If she's going to be running outside while it's cold & she takes her phone / mp3 player with her, you could get her 'smart touch' gloves (they let you operate touch-screens)
How about one of those belts that marathon runners use which holds platic bottles for water, etc.? They can't be too expensive, especially from an online vendor.
Thanks guys! I took rockrunner's suggestion and went with the Swiftwicks since she did ask for socks, after all. I have to admit, these socks are pretty exciting. Not as exciting as my Angry Birds socks, which came in a pack of six with a different character on each foot so you can do Angry Birds with your feet (which I do, 'cause we don't get out much), but pretty exciting nonetheless. If they're as good as all the reviews say they are, she'll love them.
Thanks again!
Saucony! Haha I love mine, I wish they made logger/construction/lineman boots as comfortable as my running (that I use for walking, I wear a 4E so I can't just wear some cheap sneakers for walking) shoes haha.
