OH good Lord. Ok, so the margaritas. I gained .7 No big deal, I was expecting that or worse. But I guess I did something to my foot yesterday, big toe in particular. For the life of me, I have no idea what. I started in on the house at 5am and didnt slow down until 10pm last night, which included trying to push and maneuver 2 800lb round bales into the barn lot by myself. I probably did something then. We had a birthday party here last night, to which I only had like a 1 inch square bite, well 2inch deep or whatever. And calories still around 1500 for the day.

But my foot... I can feel the swelling and pressure and tight skin. I dont know what I did. But my scale said I was up 2.9 this morning! I know I don't like this feeling. It reminds me of my really fat days of when my feet and ankles hurt all the time. I don't like it one bit.

@Otzi - Thanks! It was *exactly* what I needed to get over a 7mo long plateau... Which,
I really can't call it a plateau cuz I wasn't actively trying TOO HARD to cut calories, and when
I did, I was just too damn starving, so I got a case of the fuckitols once a week and killed
any deficit I DID have, in one day on the weekend. Stupid.

So bland potatoes are going to be a new tool of mine for sure.

Definitely considering doing a variation of the SSPP this week, again. Potatoes during
the day, and then a normal meat/veggie dinner as usual.

Yesterday I went batshit crazy and had: 200g chicken wings, 42g tortilla chips, 4 pieces of pizza and then
THREE HUGE (150 cals each) chocolate brownies. Oh, and about 6 tangerines.

    2136 calories.

I'm dying to weigh today to see what kind of wheat/salt/dairy bloat I have going on.

@Jenn - I did not see that post about the hassleback potatoes. I've learned this last week that no
matter WHAT I do to my potatoes, they all taste the same, so I'm not even going to try anymore.

@Sakura - I personally am not using organic potatoes.

@Gopintos - sorry about your footie! I hope it feels better soon and hope you don't have some
weird gout or something going on.

Thanks, I don't think gout. I havent ever had any issues like that. I would like to think that now that I am getting healthier it wouldn't start. But, my sister has to watch her pork or else she has issues. I just do some sh*t but just keep going cuz I am on a mission and gotta get sh*t done, and then forget what I even did until it bothers me later.

I know it might seem weird if potato knishes are not part of usual food where you live, but mustard on potatoes (or potatoes dipped in mustard) tastes pretty good. Also, the creaminess of the mustard helps if you are doing potatoes not cooked in some kind of fat.

I tried mustard, Jonie, I triiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiied!

But without the fat or the crispiness of a potato cooked in fat,
    it just.didn't.matter.

My potatoes are crispy all right, but man, without the flavor of
oil or butter? The potato, no matter WHAT I do to it, just tastes
like a raw sliced potato smells.

Which is fine and dandy, cuz miraculously I still like potatoes (even
craving one now after yesterday's crap fest), which is good, and I like
them bland and all, but I thought adding spices or mustard or even
my beloved ketchup (which I could drink from the bottle if I could) didn't
    make them any more toothsome.

    So, salt it is.

    Booooooo hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I got to be the same way. At first, I tried real hard to jazz them up with ketchup, mustard, seasoned salt, etc... In the end, I found I was just as happy with a sliced baked or boiled potato with a bit of salt. On hashbrowns, it's salt, pepper & vinegar.

I agree, mustard is a good flavoring with potatoes, and healthy, but I found anything other than salt was overkill and not needed to make an edible meal.

I guess it's a blessing in disguise, because if they tasted TOO good, I'd probably eat my weight in them.

Ready for today's WHOPPING water gain?

    Wait for it......

    WAIT FOR IT!!!!!!!!

    1.2lbs

    That's it.

After eating like a complete PIG yesterday, on all that wheaty stuff, making
myself SICK enough to have to take a Prilosec at bed time, 1.2lbs? Srsly.

When I was low carb, and then would have a Carbextravaganza, I would gain
anywhere from 5 to 7lbs of water the next day, and I fully understand why, but
it's just hilarious that after going to bed SO stuffed and SO full and SO BLOATED:

    1.2

You know what ELSE is crazy? You know what I craved for my first meal of the day?

    Potato.

    Wha?

Oh gawd I know it. I don't know what the great potato project has turned me into. I ate a BAS walla go. Was still hungry. So what did I go fix? Couple small yellers w/lots of bone broth "gravy". Now I am satisfied

I dont know what I will do this week. I had thought potato plus pklopp style, but I called my egg man this morning and he only has 2 dozen. Hardly worth driving over there for so I will go later in the week.

I am thinking of just doing PHD, which says to include up to a pound of tators & sweet tators per day. So I think I will run my numbers and see how that breaks down to calories, and do the rest protein and some veggies. So maybe like tators during the day and dinner with the hubster. Pklopp was doing his protein requirements first (I think) but just from no/low fat sources. I might could still do it that way but I just dont have eggs so my protein sources will have some fat. And that is okay too.

I know some of the argument on his thread was no protein vs. not enough protein being the problem. So I dont know. I can probably get enough protein from just my tators w/tuna, which I do like that combo. I didnt say Love it. But you know, it's one of those weird combos that works when you are trying to watch the calories and shtuff like that. It is doable for a few days at a time. I might have my eggs by then.

So I dont know. I also want to go find the longevity thread, and make a list and see what I should be eating every day. Fill in the gaps with some tators

Just a little update on potatoes+ fruit, rice, lean meats, etc.: Since last Sunday, I'm down 7 lbs (I have it to lose!) eating very low fat(under 15g/day). It's definitely not all water weight because I'm inhaling 300-400g carbs a day, so glycogen stores are plentiful and I am in a deficit.

My glucose numbers are also down compared to the 6 weeks of reduced carb eating before this. I'm having readings in the 80s/90s again, but for a month straight of 70g carbs/day I was consistently over 100-110, even fasting and post-workout.

This low-fat protocol is not sustainable for me long-term, but it's nice to have options. I'm continuing until my birthday on Wednesday.
