I am 53 and the only way I reduce soreness and stiffness is by more exercise and movement. Do not over do it during your work outs though.

Add stretching in as well. I always try to stretch both during and after workouts, which helps alleviate some of the DOMS. But if you lifting heavy things, you muscles should be sore afterwards.
