8 cups of water a day is a myth. U don't need it. Like others have mentioned, u can get water from other things you eat and drink

If you don't like it don't drink it. My friend insists that she is allergic to water because she gets an upset stomach when she drinks it. Drink what you want.

You don't have to like it. You need to get hydration somehow but you don't have to have a sport water bottle within arms reach at all times. (my biggest pet peeve, living in an area with some of the best tap water in the world) Drink tea, coffee, milk. Eat foods with high water content. Eat soup. If you are truly thirsty, suck it up and go chug a glass or two of tap water or filtered water. If you toss back 4-6oz you can't taste anything. Chase it with iced tea or a piece of fruit.

All tap water is not awesome. We bring tap water from home when we go to our summer place, because none of us like the taste of the spring-fed well water. Its probably awesomely high in minerals, other people love it, and we use it for coffee and cooking, but straight up it tastes gross.

It's ridiculous to say you don't like water. You've been conned by the marketers into believing that what comes out of the tap is somehow not drinkable. If you are in the First World, that's nonsense.

i'm in cleveland. we're not exactly known for being in the clean city category.
i don't think it is ridiculous to say that i don't like something., or that i've been conned. our rented home came with a water filter. there isn't a way NOT to use it, THAT would be ridiculous.
    thanks for your incredible input.

also, the only other liquid i consume is coffee, so it isn't that i have preference to juice or soda or anything sugary like that.
yes, i drink water because i know i should, or because i feel thirsty. but i don't carry a bottle around with me, nor do i even drink any if i happen to go to a restaurant or something like that.

Water sometimes gives me heartburn too. I think it's secondary to the state my stomach was in from previous food and drink and medications/supplements. Drink when you're thirsty. Excessive liquid consumption isn't necessary.

This past weekend I made 4 liters of water last for over 24 hours of backpacking including cooking my meals, making coffee, washing my hands and hiking all day in 65-75 degree temperatures. I actually forced myself to drink more than I really wanted, too. It's not like I was dehydrated or trying to make it last.
I agree people have been conned into drinking way more than they need, but at the same time I feel like my thirst mechanism is broken as I am never thirsty and my urine is dark in color unless I make myself drink water throughout the day. That being said, I don't believe in the eight glasses a day guideline. I just try to get enough.

For years I haven't really drunk water or any liquids with my meals (maybe a few sips at most) because I feel better if I don't and that's what I go by. I started doing that after following a food combining diet more than 10 years ago and that always stuck with me just naturally.

when i first staeted drinking water, i use to fill like i was drowning. Then i cut back and drank a little at a time, room temp. I can only drink a little if it is ice cold and more the closer to room temp. In the winter i like it hot, it is generally the only hot beverage i drink since i dont like coffee.
