Enough research, enough half-assing: Time to get serious

OK, I've dabbled in Primal and Slow-Carb, I know they work. Time to make some changes, stick to the program and start taking care of myself.
The general info
Your location: Northeast US
Age (If you want):42
How Primal are you: Not primal enough. Budget isn't really a problem, I just need to develop the will power to say "no" more often than I say "yes." I'm going to allow myself one "cheat" meal a week (80/20 rule) to provide a release for some of those cravings but I hope to eliminate that eventually too.
Do you consume dairy: Very little. When I do it's cream in my coffee or a bit of aged cheese.
Do you drink coffee or tea: Yes, at least one cup a day.
Motivator for switching to Primal: My health. I'm a big guy (6'3) and carry a good amount of muscle and way, way too much fat. Right now I'm about 310, which is less than when I first began posting here but probably 60-70lbs more than is needed. I haven't been south of 250 since 2001. Time to make it happen.
Favorite exercise: Lifting Heavy Things, running.
Favorite Primal food: just about any kind of meat, leafy greens, mixed nuts
Best part about being Primal: lack of feeling bloated, consistent energy, minimal hunger pangs.
Worst part about being Primal: Having a wife who is not Primal.
Progress: I will be reporting back and plan to set up a thread in the Journal area.
