Different people need varying amounts of sleep. To get what you need, you must be ready for sleep when your head hits the pillow.

I found that if I go to bed at 22:30ish, I now wake up with the alarm or even a few minutes before it goes off at 06:35. Sometimes like last night (23:20) I go to bed a bit later but still get up with the clock. I honestly believe you will find consistency is the key. The average person requires 7 - 8 hours sleep a night. It's a bit like saying the average height is 5' 9" which is very true, but, I have one son in law 5' and the other 6'2" which just means we are all different. I suggest you find what works best for you.
Why use a sledge hammer to crack a nut when a steam roller is even more effective, and, is fun to drive.
