    My diet (please critique/add suggestions)

    Primal Fuel
This diet relies heavily on zucchini but I like it and that is no problem. I am trying to go as paleo as I can. I have no problem eating the same meals over and over again. My goal is to get the ideal diet. This is a balanced diet full of foods I like and can make and store quite easily. The question is, is it a good diet? Is it something that can really help me thrive long term? I am giving up grains completely and fully adopting primal life. I want to lose some flab so and I think this will happen naturally. Please give some thoughts/ideas on what I could ADD to the diet or lose from the diet or what I could add to meals etc. I will add some spices to meals for flavour and some passata sauce (ground tomatoes). I will also be cooking in olive oil but I will try to upgrade to coconut oil after a few weeks. As you will see I like really simple meals I can make quickly.

The main issue is putting more good carbs in there without getting too toxic from high levels of vitamins. This is where grains could come in but they would be doing harm.

Please don't make fun of the diet or say it's too bland etc, I can and will eat it. Please give suggestions for things I can add to the meals.

Less lean meats, more ground beef, ground pork (both cheap fatty meats), if you must eat the chicken breasts and ground turkey, cook in coconut oil or butter (and don't be shy). If you want to, try chicken thighs with the skin STILL ON and eat that stuff. Yum.

Forget the egg whites, eat the whole damn egg. Lipid hypothesis is bogus.

I recommend more variety in veggie intake because that means you'll get a wider variety of nutritients.

Good on you for eating the salmon, also experiment with other fatty fishes and try to prefer wild caught fish over farmed varieties.

Just my thoughts. Some changes should be made for sure, but you are on the right track!

    Thank you for your comments.

I will add some onions and asparagus and carrots.

Do you think it's ok to eat bananas (fructose?).

I will look into shrimp and other fish and different meats also.

If you want to eat bananas, it's a-ok. Unless you're trying to get into ketosis or something. Then I'd stay away. Oh, and also if sugar (even from fruit) tends to make you binge, then stay away as well. Otherwise, go for it. Just don't eat more than one or two a day (at least in my opinion).

Asparagus and carrots are good (though carrots are a little more carb heavy), also try brussel sprouts, kale, spinach, mustard greens... Just be inventive when going to the produce section (or the farmer's market). Don't be afraid to try all sorts of new veggies.

You need a greater variety of foods. Try not to eat the same things day after day. Need a variety of vegetables (besides Zucchini) to get the vast array of phytonutrients. You need leafy greens (like kale, bok choy, chard). Eat fish and seafood more -- like oyster, clams, sardines, shrimp.

That looks like a pitifully small amount of food.

    Definitely needs more zucchini.

Scrambled egg white? You should use the whole egg.

Why are you sticking to those foods in particular? Are you thinking that those are the most nutritious? Do you have any food/texture aversions?

I see no risk of 'overdosing' on vitamins, particularly since you are boiling the zucchini and draining all those good vitamins away in the cooking water. Unless you are drinking the cooking water also. Grains in themselves do not add vitamins, but strip them away.

There is a great big world of fruits, veggies, nuts, meats, heck even eggs. Get out and explore! Get over the fat fear, and have some nice cuts of meat with fat, organ meats, etc. Try different greens, and for heaven's sake saute your veggies (fats help with vitamin absorption) or at least lightly steam them. Eat whole eggs. Rejoice in food. This is not drudgery.

Why so much egg white? Do you hate having boners or something?
