All you people and your 100% primal Thankssgiving meals are making me feel bad. Damn you CW brainwashed family that I have too much respect to fight! *shakes fist*

Tonight I made rack of NZ lamb marinaded with rosemary and garlic, a sweet and purple potato and asiago cheese casserole I invented on the fly (potatoes, cheese, onions and butter), a salad and a vegan pumpkin pudding with whipped cream (made from pumpkin, cashews, coconut milk, chia seeds, pumpkin pie spices, maple syrup and a persimmons for more sweetness). We had a fancy bottle of shiraz from Paso Robles, California. Only the whipped cream was not primal (the kind in the can). Who says you can't eat well and stay primal?

Roasted Duck--my husband and i ate the whole thing. And swiss chard, and carrots, and mashed pumpkin, and broccoli, and zucchini, all with either sage butter (ah, last summer's sage!) or coconut oil. And champagne with cassis. Loved. It.

Dammit, am I the ONLY one unable to have a primal Thanksgiving, or am I just the only one brave enough to admit it?

I cooked all primal food, but a sweet neighbor boy (40 yr old boy heh) came to my door with a turducken muffin he'd invented, so I ate it. I did heat it up in bacon fat before I ate it though.

I made cheese/jalepeno stuffed sweet peppers wrapped in bacon, cranberry sauce, and primal-approved cheesecake, and did a good job of eating primal at the main meal (mostly meat, like 2 bites of potatoes and peas). Had just a couple of spoonfuls of pumpkin pie crust and apple cobbler with flour crust (still made my insides balloon up for a couple hours, but whatever). Oh and wine. Good amount of wine. Great day.

We made roasted turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce with honey and cider, roasted acorn and sweet dumpling squash with butter, mashed rutabaga, mashed potatoes, sweet potato with marshmallows- I ate the sweet potato from underneath and left the marshmallow in the dish I made baked apples with a cranberry walnut filling. For CW eaters there was bread stuffing, biscuits, pumpkin pie, indian pudding, corn and lima beans. I ate way too much, but everything I had was primal and delicious!

And for breakfast today, a BLT. That's Bacon, Lettuce (well...kale), Turkey. The 'bread' was two big slices of turkey breast. And sour cream. Awesome.

Breakfast was leftover paleo stuffing. Awesome considering the ground piggy in it was pastured maple cured from our local farmer. I was briefly tempted to put some of our homemade cranberry persimmon sauce on it. Looking forward to leftovers over the course of the day (turkey & roast root veggies)

I admit I was pretty much in the same boat. And I caved to eating regular old bread stuffing. And a small piece of Costco pumpkin pie. Today, back to normal and I'm not gonna worry about it...
    Breathe. Move forward.

I just eat what I want...
