    Primal Journal- The Sequel (pam)

    Shop Now
Here I go again. Dumping the original journal and moving on to the next attempt. I didn't fare too well the first 5 months and my journal reflected my lackluster whiny ways.

IF until 10:30am. Had some half-caf coffee with a bit of heavy cream before church.

Oddly enough, there was an interpretive dance group who came to emphasize the sermon on being "Stuck". At one point they had a woman being bulimic... oh man. That was me. I'm not a particularly religious person, but love spirituality and the thought of God. I was dumbstruck. Ever have a moment like that where you look around and wonder how the hell that happened? Until that moment, my plan was to fast all day to jump start my PB re-experience. Typically, that gets me in trouble with binge eating or fighting the binge. Instead, I am going to eat when I am hungry.

    Lunch:

    1c full fat Greek yogurt
    1/4 c raisins
couple bites sweet potato/cranberry mash until I read the deli label and saw whole wheat flour. Gluten bothers me, so I avoid it.

I decided to keep my beloved greek yogurt in my diet for now along with the small serving raisins. My issue is cane sugar, maple sugar, coconut sugar. Just processed sugars.

    Snack:

1 mango chutney chicken thigh with 2 pieces of crispy skin (hubby won't eat his)
1/2 c pumpkin/carrot bisque made with heavy cream and whole milk

    Dinner:

1 obscenely big yam with 2T ghee

Still on a yam/sweet potato kick.

IF until 10:30 with lots of 1/2 caf coffee to get me going. The sun really never came up today; hard to feel awake!

    Late breakfast:

1c parsnip/carrot mash with heavy cream and butter
    1/2c full fat plain yogurt
    small handful raisins
1/4c raw trail mix (coconut, banana, cashew, raisin)

    Snack:

finished the veggie mash (maybe 1/2 c)

    Dinner:

    3oz portion rib eye
    1/2 large buttercup squash.

I was able to walk this morning on the treadmill again without much discomfort. 1 hour at "8" elevation at moderate speed (3.1mph). I'm trying to be OK with this! Happy to be moving again.

IF except for a huge cup of 1/2 caff with small amount of heavy whipping cream. I didn't mean to do so, but i didn't eat until 11:30AM.

    Lunch:

2c leftover baked squash with 2T ghee and handful pecans
1/2 c pumpkin carrot soup with several TBSP unsweetened dried coconut

    Snack:

    1c cabbage/bacon stir fry
large amount of sunflower seed butter (right off of the spoon; yum) ~6T eeek

    Dinner:

    2 oz rib eye
    2 oz chicken
    1 slice bacon

Can you tell I was scrounging for left overs? Meat night!

Walked again for an hour on the treadmill on high grade; moderate speed. Enough to sweat at least!

Beautiful pre-Thanksgiving day! Time to start the cooking. It will not be fully Primal, but enough for me. I love stuffing, but I'm not sure I'll eat any to avoid opening the flood gates. Gluten really seems to bloat me, so why live with that for a few days?

IF until 10:45AM. 2 cups 1/2 caff coffee with some heavy whipping cream

    Lunch:

    2c cabbage/bacon stir fry
    1/2 avocado
1/4 c raw coconut, cashew, raisin trail mix

    Snack:

2/3c sweet potato bake (potato, eggs, maple syrup, ghee)

Tasting while I'm cooking for tomorrow. Umm

    Dinner:

Kind of a lot of sweet potato puree (what didn't fit in the 9x13 pan)
A decent amount of dark chocolate and coconut (tasting my Paleo bars)

I feel a bit ill from the sugar and carbs. I will do a power walk up hill after my stomach settles.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Happy Thanksgiving.

Cooking and running the dogs at the dog park to prepare for the crowded and noisy afternoon! 20+ people at my house for early dinner. So much food, so much non-Primal food. Not too tempting. Yet. Too early on my re-start to start going 80/20. I've made some of my favorites so I'll be very, very happy. Only yearning will be for the stuffing. Gluten honestly does bother my GI tract so I'm feeling OK skipping it this year. I'd be wondering if I was stupid if I was just not eating something I loved only to stay Primal.

IF until 10AM. Had a large cup of 1/2 caff with ghee and heavy cream to start the day. No sampling of the cooking. I did that yesterday.

    Breakfast:

    1 avocado with sea salt

    Lunch/Dinner

Need I record it all? Sweet potatoes, salad, carrot flan, raw cheese/fig spread, apples (ok, from apple pie), eggs, cranberry sauce and some good old fashioned green bean casserole!

No turkey. Not a fan. Ate a ton of food but not a ton of sugar. Good job for me.

Unnaturally tired right now. I'm not too sure why. Too much food at once, perhaps. I just want to go to bed and it is only 8PM. Pajama time.

I think I am going to fast today. I feel like I need a reboot. If it feels good, I'll extend it through the weekend. Not too sure why... just playing it by ear. My husband is gone deer hunting until Sunday night, so I won't have to listen to his questions about why I am not eating.

I did have some 1/2 caff coffee for 'breakfast', but no heavy cream or ghee. It just sounded gross today.

Walked an hour at high grade on treadmill. I think I'll do more later but I decided I was hungry at 4PM, so I ate:

6oz turkey (not a fan, I know I said, but this one turned out well!)
    1/2 c homemade cranberry sauce

Walked another 50 minutes on high grade and did some upper body with some very, very light weights. I can't have any amount of weight that requires me to lock in my core. Frustrating, but I'm glad I'm finding a way to maintain tone.

Beautiful chilly day! Happy to say I am again avoiding shopping. My plan is to stay away all weekend, although I do have to drop my daughter off at the mall later today.

IF except for 1/2 caff coffee with ghee/cream until 10:30AM

    late breakfast:

1 turkey leg with part of thigh attached. I have to say I like turkey this year.
1/2-2/3 c homemade cranberry sauce and cranberry chutney.
1 medjool date, 3 macadamias for dessert

    Cranberries. Love 'em.

    snack:

3 (2"x2")squares of Paleo 'fudge' coconut almond joy bar
    handful dark chocolate chips

Cooking for a get together. Hard time not tasting!

    Dinner:

few bites of hamburger (no bun)
left over mashed baby reds with ghee
    sauteed mushrooms

Walked 4 miles up hill on treadmill; about 75 minutes. Broke a sweat. Felt good. Used light weights for upper body work out. Very difficult to do without engaging core!

Leftovers be gone! Woosh. That was tough to do but they have all been eaten.

IF until 11AM except for coffee

    Lunch:

    cranberry sauce, cranberry chutney
    1/2 c pecans

    Dinner:

2c sweet potato mash (with butter)
    1c garlic mashed red potatoes

Not even any turkey to go with it. Oh, well. I have to go shopping tomorrow or I'll be eating ghee and bacon.

    Ummm. Ghee and bacon.

Walked an hour at high grade on treadmill. No weights tonight.

    Protein in the house again!

Breakfast (no IF today. I was hungry; probably due to no protein yesterday):

1/2 caff coffee with ghee/heavy cream
2 1/2 chicken thighs with BBQ sauce
    1/2 pc bacon

Started taking some adrenal support supplements: Vitamin C (500mg) with bioflavinoids, dry E (200 IU), B complex,

    Lunch:

sweet potato cooked in bacon grease
    pecans
    2T sunbutter

    Dinner:

    3oz BBQ chicken with skin
majority of an entire buttercup squash

Did the old walk on the treadmill at high grade for an hour; broke sweat and got tired. I'm going to lift some light weights after dinner some time.

COLD walk with the dogs at the park. Feeling very primal out there with the pooches. All I needed was a spear.

IF until 11am except for coffee with heavy whipping cream

    LUNCH:

    3oz chicken breast
2c sweet potato with 2T ghee and pecans
    3oz dark chocolate

Must. Stop. Buying. Chocolate. I fool myself into thinking it is healthy dark chocolate, but any chocolate in excess isn't good for me. Almost tired of sweet potatoes, too.

More treadmill walking at high grade for 60 minutes. Says I burn 400 calories in 3.3 miles. I always question the accuracy of machines, but I did have the grade high enough to feel like I wanted to stop at one point. I'm growing bored with this routine. Next week I'm going to try the gym again. I'll probably hop in the pool; hoping my inattentive ways will allow me to swim more than 2 laps. I've heard your uterus floats in the pool. Maybe it won't bug me.

Still pissed off I caused a uterine prolapse by heavy lifting. Women really need to be careful. We are not designed as men and we cannot always do what they do! I wrote my trainer a long message about recognizing when to adjust for a woman: if they are laughing about peeing while doing jumping jacks then maybe you have a pelvic muscle weakness issue to be very, very careful about. Never heard back from him. He's a guy...

    Dinner:

1 whole BBQ chicken breast with skin
