As they say in "Pirates of the Caribbean" they are more like "guidelines". The official guideline is about 2/1 veggies to meat by look.
I recently have been tweaking with the diet from low fiber (due to dgirstive problems) to eating more vegetables to see how I am doing. I fins that I am doing pretty well when I eat very well cooked vegetables with good fats on them and I fee much better eating more vegetables to meat. Is that okay for the primal diet? I know a lot of people focus om mostly animal and fats at each meal but it can be too much for me sometimes. Just want to make sure I'm still in line with the rules.

People focus on meat because it's an easy source for protein and fat, and because many of us just love the taste. If you get enough protein and fat, there's no reason why you shouldn't adapt primal to what you like to eat. And no getting protein from beans and soy! That s*it be bad.![]()
Even Mark says that the biggest source of calories is meat but the biggest in volume is veggies.

But what if too much veggies cause gas?
Don't worry about violating some arbitrary set of rules...do what feels right for you.
This way of eating is really about figuring out what you need to thrive. For some people, that means more fat, less carbs. Others (like me) need more carbs, less fat. Some people are on an autoimmune protocol, others are doing the GAPS diet or some type of leaky gut repair. Some people have FODMAPS problems, while others have histamine intolerance. Some folks are trying to pack on muscle, while others are trying to lose significant amounts of fat.
Everyone needs something different, there is no one right way.

Salads and roasted veggies are excellent fat delivery devices.
