Is everyone failing to realize that four states legalized gay marriage, two legalized recreational marijuana, and the first openly gay senator was elected? I don't think we've necessarily regressed or lost liberties. I'm not a fan of either major candidate, which is why I voted third party. It's like people like to pretend third party candidates don't exist, but if they paid attention to them, they'd realize a lot of their views aligned with their own.

Also on the marijuana thing, before someone brings out the flames on me, I'm not a user or a promoter, per say, but I don't see it as any worse than cigarettes or alcohol, and I believe the government could make bank on it. Same thing with gay marriage, although I am an active supporter of that.

Yes, but until the DOMA is repealed and the feds stop cracking down on legal marijuana I'm not sure how much good it does at least on the national level.

    Massachusetts also legalized medicinal marijuana.

Very true, but I see it as a step forward. In a day where people want results and they want them NOW, we have to step back and appreciate the baby steps we make as a whole :]

Ah, this must be that patience thing they kept going on about in Catholic school. Apparently it is a virtue I do not possess.

As much as I hate electoral politics, the legalization of marijuana (and hopefully soon other narcotics will get added to that list) is pretty huge.

CO has already threatened secession at least once before if the feds step on their turf, so I can't wait to see what happens next. WE ARE THE WOLVERINES

I'm officially jealous of Coloradans and Washingtonians.

The biggest problem I see with any state's secession is the US military industrial complex. We have no qualms about invading sovereign nations, a new country would just be a new target to set up base in.

I wouldn't exactly celebrate legalizing marijuana in a couple states. There's a difference between legalization and decriminalization. I think states are just thirsty for more revenue streams. And thanks, government, for your permission to marry within certain imaginary lines. We are really free now... Wooo!

Well, we already have bases in every state.

I think it will be interesting watching the EU break apart (which I think is inevitable at this point.) I enjoy reading articles about Catalonia seceding from Spain for example. The Greeks are now voting on exiting the EU, it may not pass this time, but one day it will, I'm sure.

A complete collapse of paper currency could wreak all kinds of havoc on the current power structures around the world. I'm sure there is a different future outcome for every different imagination on the planet.
