Artic Zero as an ice cream substitute?

    Shop Now
I discovered Artic Zero in the organic freezer section of the grocery store. I am wondering if it is primalish or if it is a bad choice. A person could eat the whole pint for 150 calories, it is lactose and gluten free the first few ingredients are 1. water 2. whey protein 3. organic cane sugar (5g per serving) 4. chicory root -- note it does not have any artificial sweeteners

I think it taste decent and would for sure be a decent substitution compared to a pint of ice cream

    Good or bad indulgence?

Bad choice. I had some once. I was super excited because it was low carb. Took one bite and that was the end of it. It made me depressed. I think it's cuz they took all the happy out.
Do yourself a favor, invest in an ice cream maker and good ingredients.

I've had it and I actually thought it was decent.... but of course only with some choclate sauce made with coconut oil are dark cocoa powder! It defintely doesn't taste like full fat ice cream closer to a frozen yogurt. It's a better choice for me on occasion. even if I can buy a pint of quality ice cream with real ingredients. The sugar + fat doesn't do me much good. It leaves me craving more.

I agree... invest in an ice cream maker and good ingredients Otherwise I don't see any harm in it occasionally .

I like this "they took all the happy out" I can definitely see where you are coming from. No fat at all and low sugar, isn't that why people crave ice cream any way.

I have made home made ice cream before but I suppose I was looking for something lighter as I am wanting to loose a little weight, and rather than gorging on somethings I thought about keeping a pint of this in the frige.
What do you suggest putting in the ice cream maker?

I like the idea for the chocolate sauce! I just discover coconut oil, also I have a lot of trouble with sugar, if I have a little... I usually have A LOT, I did not feel the urge to binge on sugar after eating this though

if you're going prima and trying to lose weight, fat and keeping your carbs lower are both in your favor. Use heavy cream, eggs, real vanilla or raw cacao powder, sea salt, and stevia or xylitol. I suggest Kalona Supernatural or Strauss Creamery for the cream and Ojio for the vanilla. There's plenty of recipes online

Chicory root is also notorious for causing gas and bloating in many individuals....jus FYI
