    Iron content of Liver

    Shop Now
    Hi all,

Quick question. Is the iron content in liver something to be worried about if you consume liver regularly? (Say once or twice per week) It is my understanding that high iron intake can have detrimental effects on health, but that may be a mistaken belief especially when on a primal diet.

    Thanks muchly!

    Steve

The body can't work itself out, actually. We have no method for excreting excess iron, only sequestering it. That said, people typically don't get enough iron rather than getting too much. There may be some benefit to donating blood periodically if you have high iron stores (cumulative effect of Grok's little cuts and scrapes as he goes about his day), but there's not really any need to avoid high-iron foods.
Give me liberty. Exploration of other options will be vigorously discouraged.
