    Best primal canned food

    What are the best primal canned foods? There is a hurricane coming and the chances of electrical power outages are nearly inevitable. What canned food would be best since cooking will not be an option nor will fresh fruits except bagged greens and what not.

    From my research there isn't much in the way of canned food that meets a primal definition. Some canned veg like tomatos, string beans, artichokes etc. are ok. Sardines, tuna and beef or chicken broth are ok. I never shop for canned foods so I'm sure there's more. Just need to check the labels for added nasties. Of course with a pending hurricane and psbl. power loss you do (and eat) what you have to. Stay safe!

    Canned fish.

    If you can find some high-quality canned curry and enchilada sauces (look at the label) they are decent used over the canned fish so that you don't get sick of canned fish! Also grab some hot sauce and mustard to spice up the canned fish.

    Any of these is good, just read the ingredients list and get the least-tampered option:
    -Salmon
    -Sardines
    -Any other fish in olive oil, brine or tomato sauce
    -Coconut oil
    -Tinned peas (only Primal on technicality: eating small amounts is OK)
    -Some meatballs are MRM and fat, but no grain
    -Jarred brockwurst and frankfurters are typically, again MRM and fat, no grain
    -Jarred asparagus
    -Different pickles
    -Pickled eggs
    -Jarred beetroot
    -Chopped tomatoes (look for minimal salt!)
    -Tomato passata (ditto: min salt)
    -Dessicated coconut and dried fruit and nuts

    Try and prep some of these:
    -make some meat jerkey in the oven
    -make some dried oven-chips out of veg
    -get apples, carrots, parsnips, cabbages, kale, onions and squash: they all keep VERY well in a drawer and can be eaten raw
    -make a Paleo jam
    -make pates/pastes, put in a jar and COMPLETELY cover by pouring melted lard in until the coverage is 1cm high; this will preserve your pate

    Also, for future emergencies (which DO happen: power outages, broken fridge/freezer, overstock...) consider getting materials to make the following: Pot-in-Pot Refrigerator

    PS: Good luck and stay safe! Looking forward to hearing how one of our Groks survived a hurricane!

    PPS: Stocking on brown rice and soaking in case of an emergency (softens it almost as well as boiling!), using some and then giving the remainders to a homeless shelter is definitely forgivable! Try and avoid having to eat any, but definitely keep some just in case!

    I hope it's not as bad as they say it will be! New York store shells are being emptied, Supposed to rain for almost a week straight don't know much else though.
