MIL - Lipitor and Pacemaker page

I know about the discussions related to statins and cholesterol (and I won't ever be taking them). However, my mother-in-law is taking Lipitor and has a pacemaker. She started taking them a couple of months ago when her pacemaker was installed.

She eats nothing close to primal, but has lost a lot of weight recently by following the Isagenix program (second ingredient is fructose in the shakes). *facepalm*

She was told that she needed the Lipitor to to protect the ends of the leads from the pacemaker from build up. Does that sound logical?

I don't know - I think it's different if you've had a heart attack already.

But don't be surprised if she starts getting some issues with peripheral neuropathy. It strips the cholesterol from the nerve endings as well. I've heard that you should take CoQ10 if you must take statins, but I don't know if it would help or mess with lead ends in this case.

No, she hasn't had a heart attack, but an irregular rhythm, which led to the pacemaker.

Thanks for the other info. I'll pass it on to my partner so he can figure out if his mother is also taking CoQ10.
