    How much is too much running each day?

    Ive read we shouldnt be sprinting that much, but how much is too much?

    Is running a bit every day ok? What about playing sports?

    Im just a bit unclear about my personal physical state because I cant do that much running to begin with without getting tired quickly. But I think it would still be beneficial for me to get my energy and blood flowing each day.

    Nothing wrong with running daily if you enjoy it, and aren't feeling overtrained. Make sure you're eating plenty and getting enough sleep, and you're good.

    If you're still kind of new to running it can take a little while to build up endurance. You don't want to over do it sure, but don't be afraid of it either. You'll know if you're pushing yourself too hard.

    Phil Maffetone, who coaches runners, suggests that for health purposes, the perfect running workout is 15 minutes of warmup, a half hour of very slow running and 15 minutes of cooldown. That's for someone who is in great shape and already a runner. For someone newer, jogging at a very easy pace for 20 minutes is plenty to start with, and if that feels like too much, to start with walking. He also says that if all you ever did was walk an hour a day, that's more than enough for good health.

    IMHO sprinting is harder on the body, so it should be done once, maybe twice a week. I sprinted too much and gave myself shin splints, even though I could run slowly up to 5 miles every other day.
