My point is that we eat mainly to feed ourselves not mainly to have colon movements. Colon movement is something that is related to throwing things out, that we dont need and cannot digest. Herbivores do!

Like ordering an item because you think the box in which is packed will fit well in the trash can.
My advice is: forget the Marketing BS regarding the fiber and focus more on the things you need!

Eat those veggies and few fruits you do, those have enough!
I appreciate how you responded. I get sick of over-opinionated, aggressive, or defensive posters on-line. Thanks for clarifying your tone, and I am sorry that I was one of those posters.

Jicama and Kohlrabi look like new ammunition in my vegetable arsenal! Do most groceries carry them? Are they seasonal?

Jicama in Calgary is seasonal. There are a few months in the winter when the stores don't have any.

The snow and wind are a summer breeze compared to the layer of ice and chilling storm in my heart (and gut) when my beloved Jicama and I are not together. And my limes and cinnamon weep for their companion and scoff at the paltry replacements I have offered.

Any new post topic on the MDA forum the logic of which runs counter to the Primal Bluprint diet rationale is going to naturally be met with "over-opinionated" replies. You can't possibly expect otherwise. Asking how to maximize your fiber intake around here is like asking what are the best grains to eat, or what's the most delicious canola oil brand you've tried. It just doesn't make sense on MDA:

I take "Natural Calm" magnesium supplement to help with BM. You can get it at a local health food store. http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Calm-S.../dp/B0001WNF0O

Wow Grokker, that was an interesting read! Thanks for posting that. It's amazing what the medical community recommends. Sometimes I wonder how things would be if medicine stayed out of the diet arena. If doctors had left everyone alone about fats, fiber and everything else, where would we be now?

MDs have no nutrition background. Maybe a few hours a semester ending with a short test and that was it. I know... I come from a long line of Doctors. On the other hand, if you do Medicine School, you do Biochemistry. That's where the roots of nutrition are. But to few individuals remember the biochemistry and at the time you go through it, in school, you have zero interest for it.

It's amazing, it took me 25 years now to get back to it again. I emailed my Biochemistry professor and he sent me my Biochemistry manuals. This was happening a year or so ago. The guy was 90+ was still researching. Going through I was refreshing/relearning the topics, citric cycle, metabolic paths, etc I FINALLY realized why I had to learn those at that time. It's kinda ironic... Took me 25 years for my epiphany. Then I turned Paleo. Now I'm Paleo/PB!!! I wish I could go back in time now.
