    Snacking

    Primal Fuel
    So I am strictly primal from breakfast to lunch to dinner. But at night, somewhere round 9-10 man I am really craving a crunchy snack. If there were cheetos in front of me I would eat them. Looking for something to replace the urge. I have tried pork rinds and they are ok I guess. Are sweet potatoes chips ok to eat assuming I make them myself? Any other crunchy snack ideas? I have pretty much reached my goal weight although I would like to lose the last little bit of fat around the stomach.

    My carb count is real low during the day

    Breakfast : Bacon and sausage
    Lunch: Big Salad with chicken
    Dinner: some form of animal and usually some cauliflower mash , asparagus or string beans

    Some people have talked about kale chips. I don't know how to make them, but apparently they're satisfying in a crunchy-chippy way. I imagine with some Celtic Sea Salt and some paprika or cayenne you could spike 'em up a bit.

    Kale chips: Start with any variety of Kale (Lacinato/Dino works best but Red Russian also works!)

    1 bunch fresh Kale
    1 tablespoon olive oil (or more if you like)
    1 teaspoon sea salt or favorite seasoned salt

    Preheat Oven to about 375 deg F (you may have to reduce to 350 if the kale burns too easily on your first batch
    Tear kale off the thick midtribs, into bite-sized pieces.
    Wash kale & thoroughly dry in a salad spinner or salad bag.
    Drizzle with about 2 tsp of the oil and sprinkle with the salt.
    Spread out on cookie sheets.
    Bake for about 15 min, until edges are brown and kale is crispy when moved in pan BUT NOT BURNT - check often as it can burn easily.

    You can also do this in a food dehydrator but most people don't have one. And yes, if 15 year olds will eat this without prompting -as I have witnessed- then there is a good chance most people will like it!

    Kale chips are so nasty. They have become such a fad, especially in whole foods. I have never been a snacker at night, but my favorite snack besides fruit are Cliff Bars, especially the macadamia one. I have a physical job working in a warehouse all day and a cliff bar gives me a nice boost.

    I think kale chips taste great but I don't think I'd call them crunchy (at least not when I've made them at home).

    If it's really just crunch you're after, you could go for some raw fruit or vegetable, with some kind of dip (sweet or savory).

    About those pork rinds ... nachos. You're welcome : )

    Cliff bars have soy protein, or at least the "Builder" varieties do.

    I like kale chips, or you can make root vegetable chips with things like beets or sweet potatoes (or even white potato if you eat them).

    I often read people talking about eating a potatoe, rice..etc "if you can eat them" or "if you can handle them" What is meant by that?
    I can eat white rice, or potato here and there and it has no effect on how I feel. If anything I feel more full when I add a small baked potato with butter to a meal.

    BTW thanks for all the replies they are very helpful.
