    internet porn cost: free
    benefit: sexual satisfaction (orgasm)

    That seems like a no-brainer.

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is here. Only a total moron would think that ALL sex that happens in porns is meant to happen in real life. Some positions are ridiculous, and it's pretty obvious it's only done for camera angles. Other positions are actually quite fun. My husband picked up a lot of great ideas from watching porn that I would have never thought of otherwise, and totally love.

And my husband is someone who has watched a lot of porn in his life (though not really since we've been together, because I have a very high sex drive for a woman so there isn't a need unless we're not together for a week or two) and he is the most sensitive, responsive, amazing lover I've ever been with. Plus, he's got a pretty impressive libido, so clearly watching porn didn't do him one bit of harm.

As for me, I find that watching porn tends to increase my already high sex drive, much like Cori. So I'm not sure where this claim that porn lowers libidos comes from, because that's NOT my experience.

AND not everyone who watches porn is addicted to it, either.

The human body was designed to orgasm. Personally, I think people who are sexually repressed are doing WAY more harm to themselves than folks who watch some porn.

    I don't know....
The reality is that many men and women use porn and have fine sex lives. I think the bigger issue with impotence is probably poor health, not so much watching porn. It's probably a small subset that sits glued to porn.

And Cori, I realize it's up to parents to keep kids away from porn, but at the same time, it doesn't make it less damaging if the kids do see it. It could probably be solved with more frank discussions about sex instead of sex being judged so obscene. I mean really, we don't flinch if kids see a violent movie, but god forbid they see someone having sex....

Maybe you can't read or even watch 17-minute videos, but the cost is not "free". That's kinda what all those hard-working scientists labored so hard to prove.

Congratulations on your self-proclaimed "high sex drive", and for not recognizing the contradiction in then saying you need porn to stimulate sex. But to each their own

If you read the second half of the article in the post, the writer Lasha Darkmoon thinks so, too:

Meanwhile, there is little doubt that the virulent sex epidemic we witness all around us is a deliberately planned sex psyop. This is what governments want. The Puppet Masters who pull the hidden strings of our Western regimes, all masquerading as democracies, have managed to manufacture exactly what we see when we look around us: widespread neurosis, mass misery, the collapse of moral values, Christianity in ruins, and the coarse brutalization of the common man.

No need for gulags for those who consent to their own chains.

I could not find even a hint of rational based thought in that entire passage...

    Nice.

And that's why I'm here eating HFLC Primal/Paleo.

There's no need for false dichotomies. Nothing referenced in the original article or the TED Talk were absolutist, so there are "shades of gray". (Lame pun intended.)

Again, I think we all know people who can indulge in the S.A.D. and still look like the Statue of David. But for the average person, the healthier choice they can make is the paleo/Primal diet (although U.S. News & World Report obviously disagrees, declaring paleo the "worst" diet. Ya know, good "consensus science".) Similarly, some people can consume porn and somehow not be subject of that whole "neurons that fire together wire together" truism.

I knew a woman who consumed a lot of porn with her "toys" and....well....to quote Jimmy Kimmel, "Her vagina played the role of the Batcave in 'Batman Begins'." But I know that something like 90% of porn is consumed by men, so that's a tiny minority.

    Consider the source

Lasha Darkmoon, age 33, (email her) is an anglo-American academic with higher degrees in Classics who lives and works in England.

Because of her radical political ideas in regard to 9-11 and the role played by organized Jewry in international affairs—ideas that would cost her her job and jeopardize friendly relations with her family—she is forced to conceal her true identity at the present time under a pen name.

The need for anonymity also makes it impossible for Lasha Darkmoon to accept the numerous invitations she has received to appear on people’s radio programs, to give talks and interviews, or to enter into audiovisual communication with anyone. She remains a strictly reclusive and private person whose only contact with strangers, for the foreseeable future, must be through the written word.
Some of Lasha Darkmoon articles, widely published over the internet, have been translated into several languages—especially Sex and the Jews, Sex Plague, and The Plot against Art (10 languages).

Indian mysticism remains Lasha Darkmoon’s chief influence. Though echoes of her favorite poets—Blake, Keats, Baudelaire, Yeats, and TS Eliot—may sometimes be heard in her verse, Darkmoon’s work is marked above all by a lush exoticism and otherworldliness.

Boy, you guys have a lot of hatred for this girl. Reminds me of the mainstream media's hated for Gary Taubes.

Anyway, here's a link to her articles, which I read through this past weekend. I think she writes with incredible vigor and precision, and the topics themselves were very interesting: http://www.theoccidentalobserver.net...lashadarkmoon/

The articles regarding how porn fucks up your brain's wiring are here and here.

? So.... she enjoyed sex a lot? Is there something wrong with that? I don't get it? Was she hurting someone? Raping men?

Well, you know, being primal I don't care for fruit loops. So, does she reference anything other than Wikipedia and posts she's previously written? Big difference between her and Taubes. Taubes has a background (and degrees) in science and references actual scientific research. Her? Not so much.
