I have entered a cycle sportive in the Alpes next year ' La Marmotte' it is said to be the toughest bike event in the world at 174km long and over 5000meters of climbing. some of the climbs - Col du Glandon, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galibier - finish on the Alpe d' hues (if you watch the tour de france these will be familiar)

The question is how best to fuel the body both in training and at the event??
