So I've just gotten home from a four hour journey to pick up raw goats milk as well as free range eggs. It was an amazing experience. I go into further detain in my latest journal post. I keep hearing that raw goats milk is superior to raw cows milk so I decided to do some more research. I found this really great article on the subject

I just got back from my farm too. I feel blessed that I only have to drive 15 min for eggs, raw cream and pastured chickens. I really do agree that goat's milk is better for me, but I am a sucker for raw Jersey Cow milk. Sorry you have to drive so far. Sometimes when I am at the farm I go to, I run into a couple who drives to north west of Houston all the way from Louisiana b/c raw milk is illegal there. The eggs there are just awesome...so pastured that I have to shoo the chickens away from the car.

Goat's dairy is indeed super-nutritious. I'm thriving on it. That's mostly goats cheese, butter and yoghurt.

In Alabama I had the convenience of getting it down the road from my house. The drive wasn't too bad and I met two amazing women! I'm used two that rich cows milk taste as well, still haven't drank it straight up yet bc I'm fasting

Just broke my 24 1/2 hour fast with 5 cups of raw goats milk, 6 raw eggs, 7 pieces of bacon, and 6 scrambled eggs. Loved the milk, drank the freshest that was from this morning, it wasn't even completely cold yet lol. It's really fresh and creamy, it does have an underlying flavor of goat but I like it, doesn't bother me. Sits better with stomach too

That link only mentions pasteurized cow milk. What about raw? My local health food store touts it as the most healthful substance they carry. I got my 12 year old brother hooked on the stuff (from a local farmer who charges far less than the above-mentioned store). Personally, I dislike the taste of cow milk, and always have, but truly enjoy raw goat milk, which I drink substantially quantities of.

I would love to see a study on that. But raw cows milk is great too, I've just switched over as a matter of fact. I only had access to raw cows milk for a while. Since goat milk became available and was the same price I decided to try it out. Even though the article is on raw goats milk vs pasteurized you can still see the list of amino acids and whatnot. I don't think the pasteurization process actually changes that

I have a friend who has a pair of goats and who makes her own kefir and chevre cheese. Such yumminess.

She spearheaded a local change in regulations that allows for goats and chickens within the city limits. It just recently got approved. Victory for urban primal peeps.

I hadn't heard about the benefit of goat's milk being alkalinizing. Interesting. I've switched to goat's/sheep's dairy on the grounds of the casein being tolerated more easily and it being more nutritious.

I bought some goat's Camenbert today from a supermarket - first time I've seen it on sale. Haven't tried it yet.
