When my dad was little his parents only let him have one cookie at a time and he decided when he grew up and had a family everyone could have as many cookies as they wanted. So, it was normal for us to have fresh baked cookies several times a week.

We just moved near the hometown of McKee Foods, I've never seen so many Little Debbie "snack cakes" in my life! There are outlet stores with people loading up carts full of near-expired cakes. I have to admit, during a cheat/fail weekend, I bought some Swiss Cake Rolls just to see if they were what I remembered...EWWWW. Never, ever again. I used to think that the weird smell was lard, but it's more of a plasticky, waxy kind of smell/taste. I won't even go into what it did to my guts...

That was epic. My pregnant self thoroughly enjoyed that (but then again I like watching Man Vs Food when I'm not pregnant). I started laughing at the end when they showed it was 73,500 cals. A dark, secret part of me wants a bite...

Oooh man, fudge rounds. God damn I loved me some LD fudge rounds when I was a kid. I could never get past the bizarre "sticky" stuff in star crunches though. Hostess fruit pies where my all time favorite. Those were high dollar items and rarely seen in the lunch bag.

My Mom got a full-time job when I was 17, she felt so guilty that I had to come home from school to an empty house that she made sure the cabinet was always stocked full of Ding Dongs cause they were my favorites. Awwwww, Motherly love

We had my grandma's home made jam and bread as our daily tea accompaniment almost with every meal. My grandma used to insist I eat sugar so 'your brain works in school'. She survived the war, sugar was part of the rations, just trying to keep people alive. The wrong nutritional message stuck.

ooh yeah!!! i'm old so i remember when they were actually made w/ lard.

i ate the hell out of little debbies but only b/c they were just $0.25, so that meant i could save the other $0.75 out the $1 that i got for lunch money.

I actually never ate things like this when I was a kid, my mom hated desserts like that.

At my dad's house, there was more junk food - mostly Spaghettios and Kraft Mac n Cheese. Neither of those things would ever have made an appearance at my mom's house and she'd have bitched me out royally if she knew I had eaten them.

I didn't try a twinkie until I was in my early 20's and I was far less than impressed. :P But I have other vices from childhood - hot buttery toast and potato chips are my kryptonite.

Edit: It's pretty obvious I am a "salt tooth" rather than a "sweet tooth" kinda gal. :P

Strangely the "low fat" ones... I don't know why... it's embarrassing. The regular ones are too greasy.

I still stare at them longingly when I walk past a bag...
I don't miss all of this other stuff... But I miss THOSE!

Of course that may be because I haven't had any in so LOOoooooooOONnnnG.
I'm on a very strict reduced sodium diet (medical issues), so I haven't slipped. *sigh*

Sour cream and cheddar chips are my kryptonite. Haven't had them in a while but I can kill a bag, easy. And not the baked kind either - the bright orange ruffly kind. Yum
