I think that is appalling. Presumably they will be selling it in Asda, UK too?

I doubt it since the EU is so strict on GM foods. I'd also like to see some research that GM foods are harmful, or even better that this particular strain is.

I'm sure you could google this and find plenty on it. They aren't meant for human consumption and they GM so they have resistance to the poisonous pesticides sprayed on them.

Not just pesticides~ Round-up too. They've been growing Round-up ReadyŽ grains for about 20 years now.

This is the wrong attitude: gene splicing and manipulation ideally need to be proven safe to be sold, not proven harmful when/if it causes problems.

    The perfect partnership.

Monsanto buys politicians so that, unlike most civilized countries, its poisons don't have to be labelled in the US.

Walmart keeps its female employees just under full-time so that it doesn't have to pay them benefits. Selling GMO corn fits their corporate (lack of) conscience just swimmingly.

You gotta admit, they're all keeping it consistent: killing people, one consumer at a time.

Problem is that GM foods are too new to have much long term research. And when the French rat study came out, Monsanto just shrugged its mighty shoulders. I read somewhere that other countries want to wait to see what GMOs do to American children in the next 10 years before making a decision.

It's pink slime. It's bgh. It's GMOs. I don't care if people want to eat what I consider garbage. I just want it labelled. If you stand behind your product, why not be proud to have it listed as an ingredient? Think of the marketing:

Pink slime: We've recycled what used to be dog food with harsh chemicals to make people food!

BGH: Don't worry, there's hardly any pus in your milk, and look how cheap it is!

GMOs: We're not sure, but you're poor and expendable!

Rich or poor, we are all getting the GMOs. It sickens me.
