So, as I start week 4 tomorrow, I have lost 14 pounds.... just under 5 pounds a week. This is getting easier day by day. I really don't "crave" anything, but I do kinda lust for a sandwich if I see people eating them.

Found out about a new way to exercise near me... we have a casino that opened near where I live, and they now have a Wednesday night oldies dance party. This same dance party has been running for many years in my area on Saturday nights, but it is 35 - 40 miles away. This one is about 8 miles away, maybe 10. So t will be cool to go dance for an hour or two, and leave by 10 PM. Basically 60's - early 80's music..... right up my alley!!!

Congrats on the weight loss PP. Have fun dancing - does that count as playing or working out or both? I'm a little too young to remember the 60's - in truth missed it by about 10 years but love the music from the 60's to the 80's.

Plus, and this kind of pissed me off.... they had vendors there that had NOTHING to do with food / wine.... a cell phone company was there... a cigar store, a company for back massages.
Awwww. There was a Sleep Number vendor at an Air Sho. What the heck??

Once again, slightly sabotaged..... I had this recipe for lemon butter chicken that called for the skin.....My wife said she would cook, and she did, but she changed it to 99% fat free chicken breasts. I even had the chicken in the fridge.

My hubby doesn't like the skin either and he always buys skinless boneless chicken and most of my recipes call for skin on bone in chicken!

Bonus: When I do manage to cook skin on chicken I get to eat his crispy delicious chicken skin!

I hope the chat went well. It can be hard to fly in the face of CW sometimes and even harder to convince someone else of your lifestyle if they don't want to believe or see your point of view.

OK, today is day 22, week 4 begins.

    Some observations:

    1. I have never found it easier to stay on plan than this plan. It's not like I never have urges to cheat, but they aren't common.

    2. I should keep a food journal. I feel like I am eating less. I know I eat far less often.

    3. I HATE the fact that my bathroom habits are no longer regular.

    4. I wish I would find the energy that so many other say that they have found from primal eating. Mybe I am still just too fat to have much improvement.

    5. I bought a new belt a couple months ago. I was using one of the middle holes. Now it is too big. I have to add another hole or two.

    6. I am transitioning back into many of my 2X shirts. I can't wait til I can fit into one particular 2X shirt.

OK, so that is enough of that. So, last night I started to talk to my wife about Primal. It is true that she had no real clue about how this works, so I explained it as best as I could.OK, at that point she said that she would try it..... but quickly changed her mind when I told her that meant her morning bowl of oatmeal or granola would be out if she really wanted to follow the plan. At that point she said " I don't know if I can do that".

Later on in the evening, I offered to print her out a primal shopping list so that she could see all the things she can eat, and she declined. I told her "That's fine. If you don't want to do this, then don't, but don't change my foods." She very rarely cooks, so I don't have much to worry about, really. She might cook once a month, whereas I cook 15 -20x a month for family dinner.

I have been with my wife since 1997, and I still do not understand her. Never will apparently. She is very successful in her career, she is an awesome mom, and people just love her. The one thing she has never given to herself is a chance to be even happier by getting in shape - not a serious chance anyway. I know she hates being at her weight. I think that her whole life - since I met her - she has resigned herself to being built just like her mother.

I can't "make" her change; all I can do is hope that I make a permanent change, and she gets inspired by that.

OK, and finally, I have 10 weeks to hit my first goal..... 255 pounds by 2013. I was just under 271 pounds this morning, so I have 16 pounds to go in 10 weeks.... should be doable.

My husband was leery about giving up his morning steelcut oats so we compromised. A couple times a week he ate my high protein breakfast. Then it was every other day. One day, after consuming his treasured steelcut oats he looked at me and said "this is not a very tasty breakfast." We haven't eaten them since. Maybe slowly easing your wife into it would work.

Protein and fat provide energy and satiety. One of the mornings that we had steelcut oats I headed out on my beloved RPR's. The first mile is strictly up a steep hill. What a drudge. I had some almonds with me, ate them and couldn't believe it when I got a rush of energy and enthusiasm.
Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.

I love the feeling of putting a new hole in an old belt - just recently I did a bit of a back slide and had to go back to a belt hole I had passed - not such a good feeling. Thankfully I am now going in the right direction again!

I find it interesting you have a shirt you are aiming to fit into and look good in. I also have a shirt - its still 1 size to small but it is starting to fit again - the day I can wear it and look good will be a great day for me! For me it was also a nice feeling when I could walk into a store and buy clothes that fit properly and were not the size of a sail! That really put a smile on my face!

    Keep up the great work!
