Right, but Libyans and Egyptians are naturally going to identify with their neighbors, in the same way I'd be freaked out if someone blew up Massachusetts.

Well, I did have geography and history and I know that Colorado and Massachusetts are part of the same country.
BTW, your assumption is totally wrong. It is a known fact that neighbors tend to a have long history of animosity. The same can be with brothers/cousins in religion.

Here's where I think we may be differing - I don't feel my freedom of speech is given to me or allowed by my government. I feel it is a right that is given to me by my Creator, and one that my government (fortunately) has said it will guarantee. Had it not guaranteed that right, I still would have it, though it would be tremendously more difficult.

i feel freedom of speech has nothing to do with where you reside, just that it tends to be easier to assert that freedom in the United States.

Nope... And don't exactly plan on it. This whole money/job system in reality is just a legalized version of slavery. But I won't get into THAT argument in this thread...

Yes, let's do. I agree with that, actually. Egads, you have NO freedom of speech in a corporate gig.

Yeah, I find this amusing. Americans are so proud of their freedom of speech. In reality, they spend some 10 hours in charming workplace where they have no rights at all, including no freedom of speech and come home to collapse in front of TV or in bed. It isn't clear when they exercise their rights, but it's logically to assume that they do it in their dreams.

Yes, that's the "system" for you... But like I said, it's a little off topic here. Some people, like myself, actually choose to uphold their rights and not relinquish them to outside influences.

But once again, it's all about choices. You can choose to temporarily suspend your freedom of speech in exchange for the ability to eat. Then again, you can choose to not live that way, find a job that allows you to speak your mind without losing your job, which in most cases means self-employment.

Again, exercising our freedoms doesn't mean we don't have to deal with consequences, and there may be times when we choose not to exercise them.

Having the freedom to temporarily suspend a freedom doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
