    Primal Fuel
Finished a walk with gf and our ferocious wiener dog, Ludy. He is 12 lbs of seriousness and totally runs our new neighborhood. came back and she made some juevos rancheros with some of the guac she made last night. She put some serrano pepper in it so it has a great kick. had some beer watching football yesterday so I am feeling regretful. however, I will just focus on a good primal day with lots of veggies. I am going to put some carrots and broccoli in sandwich bags to have as snacks. dipping them in some garlic olive oil is amazing!
So yesterday I randomly ran into a good friend who is here on a business trip. We were at Taco Mac and he just came walking through... I yelled out "Yo! Smith!" he looked at me with a "well no shit...." type of smile. We kicked back a couple and watched the Niners get their asses kicked... it was still fun though.

Re-Read the chapter about insulin last night and that should provide me the motivation to reign in the diet with more intensity this week. Had a good primal day yesterday so that was good. decided to no go the Crossfit route in order to save some dough. going to start a stronglift 5 X 5 routine. I like all of the exercises so it should be fulfilling and provide me the framework to have a consistent training regimen. Thinking about hitting the scale and taking another progress pic... probably going to wait until friday though.

It's great how just reading some things over can really help get through a lull. I didn't get a good night sleep last night. Even though i have been eating low carb (around 50 per day) I think i was drinking all of them. My weekend warrior habits were supplementing my carb intake more than I ever considered. It's difficult because aforementioned buddies probably burn off the beer before the next sip... anyhow, no time to get jealous just have to recognize. So here I am sick with the carb flu. I know I have work to do and an essay to write but I am deeply entrenched in the labyrinth that is MDA. I did sweat a lot during the night last night which is usually a sign for me that the ol' metabolic rate has kicked up a notch. i was telling GF on our walk yesterday that i can feel my bloat going away as well. today I am going to the Y to do some squats and some swimming. not sure if i am going to do slow and steady or somewhat of a sprint work out. we shall see. Late!

One thing that I have noticed is that once you do this for awhile and you see some stellar results, you can start to add back in things that you miss, such as beer, in small quantities. It took me about 9 months to be able to "cheat" and not have it affect me all that much.
Just keep at it dude and in very little time you will know what does/doesn't effect you in the way of diet. It's pretty interesting once you get it down.

    Icarian thanks for the encouragement.

This weekend i weighed in a 273.9 so hopefully i can get into the 260s by next week. Plan on doing a lot of swimming and my second week of 5x5. I actually like that workout.. it's short effective and challenging.

GF made some zucchini lasagna last night that was amazing! she modified the recipe and used some spinach in it as well.

ok so i am having trouble gaining momentum. I purchased the 21 day total transformation as a tool to offer me a blueprint to follow. What sucks though is that it all comes down to changing my behavior. as mentioned in my first post, i know how to train and what needs to happen in order to be successful i am just not doing it. I am good for a few days then totally fall off the wagon over the weekends.
hopefully this tool will offer the kick me over the proverbial hump. One of the reasons i chose it is because i literally have 21 days until I go to DC for my ceremony.

had trouble going to sleep last night because I drank too much java yesterday. I have class in the evenings and like to have a cup when it starts but it usually isn't a good idea. I am going to go coffee free today or at least attempt to. going for a walk then some 5X5. I am a little concerned though because I am feeling some back problems resurface. probably just do air squats instead of the back squat... probably 5x20.
