maybe a little back history might help too.
I just started primal this Monday. I was 341.4 Monday and went from being a couch potato (no walking nothing) to walking 11 miles this week and about 5-7 miles last week and 3 the week before that.

12 miles is not a lot. 3 miles, 4 times a week. Ideally, 4-5 hours pw of low level aerobic exercise is ideal, so that would probably be brisk walking or hiking, or a gentle jog.
Not sure you will gain much muscle walking alone
Just an observation.
It is not too much I have covered 8-12 miles in a day. My once concern is your couch potato status. Listen to your body and you should be fine.
Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.
PS
Don't forget to play!
I don't think you can ever walk too much. But then I'm relatively insane when it comes to walking.

I agree with sbhikes, sometimes i wish i could just keep walking all day....(jealous of your cross country hikes sb)
I treat my body like a temple.....to nourish the Goddess who lives inside
Everything is relative. OP was a couch potato and 300+ lbs. I imagine walking will build some muscle. If I spent a week walking with a 50 lbs pack on my back I'd build some muscle. I know because I've done it before.
Taking everything into context, if you really feel great (not overdoing it) then I think you had a really outstanding week, regardless of what the scale said. Keep it up!
thank you everyone for the help =) i am taking today off for my muscles to relax and tomorrow going to try some jogging on the local track! i feel good, im happy my body does not hurt too much for being as heavy as i am and my food intake is good!
