Leida, where did you hear to do those walk-offs and lift-offs? What is the theory behind them, that you have to stabilize the weight? I'm thinking of introducing more ab exercises to my workouts (planks specifically) even though I hate doing them and find them pretty boring. I just don't know what to do at this point, though. I'm thinking practicing my OH squat will help me improve core/back strength, plus flexibility. Those are killer. I meant to go work on them today but my shoulders are still really beat-up from those presses, plus now I'm done with the semester so I've got plenty of time over the next 10 days to work on form and try new exercises.... :-) I am SO glad I decided to invest in that gym membership!! Leida, I'm also wondering your goals.... 3 HIIT workouts and 3 LH workouts?? Whyyyy?!

That's what Mehdi, the author of the Strong Lifts 5x5 recommended to people who feel that the shoulders/back may limit their squat (i.e. you 'fold' under weight on the way up). I have to say that I do feel it works for me. Just make sure you unload the rack carefully - I did not know that at 250# the bar can become unstable! Never worked with that sort of weight before! I now starting to do the same on the bench - just support 95 lbs after unracking.

3 HIIT workouts and 3 LH workouts?? Whyyyy?!
I think I had a moment of inasnity dating back to my days as cardio queen and group fitness instructor? The problem is I love working with KBs, but I also want to bike and swim, and do Zumba. And I can't drop 3 lifts a week. So, plain stupid.

I find that the easiest way for me to incorporate planks is during my stretching/free-flow dancing routines. They are not so obnoxious then & I can stretch out after!

Jessjane, don't forget front squats. You really work your core with that one.

Front sqt is one thing I gotta try. I need to put the book on hold in the library again for that, and the jerks and splits. I really want to try, but do not want to without reading about the proper form.

Lots of walking yesterday, short stretch in the steam room

Just going to be off to the gym for some Madcow/3x5 goodness (day off work, yay!). This could be my last SQT/BP/BBR workout where I am doing 3x5 BP. I will be up to 77 lbs, only 3 lbs away from the coveted and drooled over 80 lbs. BBR I will be doing in the Madcow format (pyramid up), because last time I was doing hip drive to lift 3x5. Time to swallow the pride, re-group and use the backfor all it's worth. I think it is 114 lbs SQT today. Slowly, but surely, lol!

And for cardio, I am shopping & going for a romantic walk with my husband, WOOT!
