I just hit a month with my own beard by the way. I'm never going back. I love it.

its the beginning of beard season for me too. keeps my face warm for the winter, and my wife loves it. and for the record, i do the beard/shaved or buzzed head look.

What about trimming the beard? If you don't maintain it, it can look a bit messy, like how the Amish look.

I feel like when you have a lot of facial hair, you need to work a bit harder to show people you're not a slob. (wearing nice dress shirts, etc)

I think that anytime you go natural in some way, you run into this. At the end, hygiene is just showing you care about yourself. I don't think beards require MORE work than shaving every two to three days.

I trim mine once a week, but it all depends on how you shape it. It can be a lot of work if you want to keep it 'clean' in specific spots for that clean look.
Natural is the way to go!
