i clean my burnt pots by boiling them with something like persil in them. needs to be a decent washing powder, not some environmental one. can you try immersing it in a bigger pot of boiling water and washing powder? the other thing i would suggest is go to mitre 10 and get some rust remover.

sounds like honker is settling in nicely LOL my entourage this morning was the dog, bouncing all over the place. almost pulled me into the mini eel pond by the road when i wasnt paying attention. and a small child in pyjamas and purple nike frees on a $9,000 MTB which always looks very incongruous. we also picked up the long squashed dead rabbit on the way home and carried it proudly. which gave me a big dilemma. no attempts to pull me anywhere as he was so pleased with himself so he walked like a show dog, the smell was nasty and i didnt want to touch it to take it off him. i compromised in the end. 20m before the driveway, i made him down and i stuck my boot on it and yanked him off. euwww!!!!!

Another solution. Throw away old pot/pan. Go to town or online and buy/order new one. It's not as green a solution, but sometimes a cave girl's gotta do what a cave girl's gotta do.
