lol found it! for a limited time only http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ochookcoop.jpg dodgy overcast today here. which is very annoying as i wanted to go ride the motorcycle. never mind. liver and venison and a softboiled egg for lunch. i skipped breakfast almost by accident which is no fun as i then wanted food at 10am and had to wait till 12 to eat. i dont get all lack lustre and headachey, i just want food so unless i am really busy, i get unnecessarily distracted, if that makes sense.

what is everyone doing about xmas cakes and puddings? we really need to have made them by now if we're doing it the proper way lol mum used to make hers in september. i did work out the reason why when i got chickens as they all stop laying in the autumn. some of the traditional southern mediterranean xmas sweets are usually made with lard and egg free. i do love a good polverone but all that sugar in one place is not good anymore so...

i have a raw xmas cake recipe which i make which is awesome. they stuffed the webpage for the original a while back. but it is GAPS friendly and very yummy. even the exbf who loved xmas cake and was a solid KFC addict ate it. i've cut and pasted the ingredients below. what you do is stick most of it in a blender and blend it to cake dough consistency. then throw in the things you want to keep for texture, such as some of the raisins/sultanas/currants and i add flaked almonds. i leave the honey out of the cake and only put it in the icing if i make it. you can also make royal icing with coconut concentrate to go over the marzipan. you can soak the fruit in rum or whisky. you can mess with the recipe heaps as it is quite customisable. i need to work out too something i can make sorta polverone-like but without sugar so i may still just not bother and make some kind of chocolate/spice/nut ball instead for a approximation of a panforte which you can make easily paleo.

Raw fruit cake

Ingredients:
Cake:
150g walnuts (finely ground)
50g walnuts (lightly crumbled)
125g almonds (finely ground)
60g dates
250g dried apricots
60g raisins
60g sultanas
60g currants
1 tbsp honey
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
pinch ground nutmeg
pinch of ground cloves
90g almond butter

Marzipan:
200g almond butter
3 tbsp honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract (though next time I think I’d use 1 tsp!)

LL have you tried dove soap ??? Middle DD has horrendopus eczema, and we find that works well

The specialists recommend that you don't use anything that suds up and even we should avoid getting wet as this will also strip the skin of its natural oils. We tend to bath/shower him every other day or not at all if he's been swimming and only use curash body wash on his feet and knees. The Dr gives us big pots of emulsifying ointments to add to the bathwater and to smear all over him afterward, but they are full of all sorts of nasty petrochemicals. Where is the sense in covering his already sensitive skin in that crap? I'll keep the dove in mind though, whenever we need to replace the curash which will be sometime from now as we don't use much.

I reckon I could grow some great dreads without any assistance if I wanted to.

Well my 'not a budget meeting' went well today. Only a dozen of my residents even turned up, and they had some good questions to ask, but other than that they didn't even complain. They all enjoyed the lunch which is satisfying after having put quite a bit of effort into it. Apparently some of our other villages in NZ have had some very hostile 'not budget meetings' so we got off lightly I think.

Seaweed, thanks for that recipe. I will definately give it a try. One of my many hobbies is cake decorating and now that I'm primal I don't often get the chance to try my hand at it. At least I can peel the icing of my piece if I make this one *rushes off to google christmas cake decorating ideas*

LL I agree with you on the emulsifying stuff. Have you tried coconut oil as a moisturiser ??? it works well on DH eczema.
Seaweed I was training for a half marathon, so would do at least 1 hour runs on the treadmill. I would try and do longer runs on the road, but was always out by about 4am with my headlite. Too early thou.

wee poppett is now an overly opinionated almost 12 yr old lol i could have clean sheets 7 days per week. if i was on town supply i would have them way more than twice a week! and today i had a shower and co-incidentally used actual coconut oil on my skin afer, not the deodourised stuff either but the real coconut smelling stuff and my skin feels so good. i need to look out some essential oil of ylang ylang to mix with it as i reckon it would smell divine together.

ugh to 1 hour runs on the treadmill. i have run 15k before on a treadmill and it was horrific. very different to running on the road as you have propulsion on the treadmill. it's unidirectional too. normally everyone i see running on the road looks miserable, i usually am smiling and happy when i am out walking. even in the rain and if the dog is misbehaving!

how's the hair gwamma? mine is still hell messy again but it looks good under the mess. training tomorrow so no point washing it yet. there is also a rumour i am going white baiting on friday and possibly diving on sat so i may as well oil it and plait it and not worry now till sunday.

hair is great thank you Seaweed. Dh knows to notice it now......... after 28 years of marriage !!!! LOL

i think it is going to rain alot tho. grrr! where is summer?! no one ever notices i have my hair done which is good as it means it's not too drastic.

I actually love the rain. I love getting wet, muddy, cold (so long as my hands, ears and back are warm). And then i can get warm in a nice hot bath !!!! brilliant !!!!
We do alot of jetboating, all year round, and one has to be prepared for anything - so I don't mind.

i dont usually mind anything if i can get into a nice hot bath but when we go on our whitebaiting or diving missions, i am usually not driving and it takes forever to get home. invariably i freeze. i should be way more of a girl scout and take better gear so it prob is my fault. i definitely dont let it get in the way of a good adventure and there is a level of denial as to how bad the weather really is down here lol my dog came from people who own a commercial jet boat. i've always wanted to go in one. i love jetskis too but dont get the op to go out on them very often.
