I don't drink the stuff obviously but who remembers new coke and the removal of old coke? Lots of theories flew around at the time but I think I might have the answer. In 1983/84 coke was playing around with high fructose corn syrup but were struggling to get it right. In early 1985 they launched new coke. When they brought old coke back many people felt it never tasted the same - I wonder why?

You know what tastes right... Coca-Cola Classic from Mexico or such where it's made with real sugar.
It really is better.
We can get it here in FL in some small Mexican stores where they demand it.
I don't drink it, or any other soda etc... because I take a med that makes ALL carbonation taste like AZZ...
But if you want to have fun one day, and can find some, do a little taste test.

Do recipes really change from country to country. That surprises me. The HFCS sounds like a good theory then.
I think Coke (whatever version, I like zero) tastes best if it comes from a can, and drinking it from a glass. I hate to think of the reactions that make it taste so different from a can to a bottle.

In the UK there is a label the said it was made with vegetable extract...no idea what the meant but it tasted different.
