*My obligatory intro
There are no cheat days. There are days when you eat primal and days you don't. As soon as you label a day a cheat day, you're on a diet. Don't be on a diet. ~~ Fernaldo

Classic vs New. I think they changed the whole formula. They made it taste more like Pepsi which I think tastes sweeter. I've read that Pepsi uses a citrus base whereas Classic coke uses vanilla and other spices for flavoring. I have also read that Diet Coke still uses the New Coke profile which is different than Coke Zero which tastes more like regular.
I do keep a few bottles of Mexican Coke as an occasional treat (maybe 2 a month). It is better than American HFCs Coke. I had a bottle of Mexican Pepsi, but I didn't have any Throwback to compare it to and the store hasn't had any more.
They most definitely did change the original recipe by making it with HFCS.

Science says that the glass bottle (and believeing that Mexican Coke tastes better) is what makes it taste better:

I remember when all the soda started tasting different. That was when they started putting HFCS in it. I stopped drinking soda way back then. I forget when it was, but I was either in high school or around that age. I have never been able to drink energy drinks, fruity drinks, Snapple or anything because I never could stand the taste of HFCS. I switched to diet back then because of the taste, not because of the calories.
