Wake up? No, this whole forum needs to wake up. If you had THAT much of a problem then you must of experienced it pre-primal and knew before hand that grainless was the way to go. I'm making comments about the people who clearly ate plenty of bread before trying this life style. I never did say in that post "everyone has mental issues". I said IM starting to believe its mental.

That post was in no way a bash, but an opinion. Things are taken too far around here. The overall attitude is poor. If you treat yourself to a plate of pasta your gut will instantly rot and your life span is decreased by a year. Thats my opinion.

    Sorry for the harshness.

Some people are more sensitive to grains than others. I can go several months without grains and have a grain cheat day with no reactions as well. Doesn't mean others aren't getting sick when they have some. My daughter is this way. It's called a gluten sensitivity.

You're right, I did~ about 20 years ago. After numerous trips to the dermatologist, I heard *we don't know what causes eczema* and *here, try this cream/pill* and *reduce the stress in your life* Never even a hint that it might be a food intolerence. I had eczema on 90% of my body~ and not just little itchy spots, I had open/raw weeping lesions. I've posted about this many times before~

I discovered it was grains after doing a 10 day water fast. So no, it's not my imagination. You are an ass if you think everyone is making this up.

I've had stomach issues for years...mostly constipation, but also occasional bouts of debilitating cramps. All of my doctors would shrug, tell me to take a magnesium supplement, and increase my fiber by adding "whole grains." Turns out, it's the whole grains that trigger the cramps. I diligently followed the advice of my medical treatment team and suffered for it. It wasn't until after I cut them out that I experienced a remission of symptoms. So, yes, even a small amount of grains can trigger cramps for me. It's not in my head, it's in my gut. I should have known better when I went out to eat with my friend this week, but I honestly don't want to be one of "those people" in a restaurant who has to make ordering difficult. I had a good time during dinner, and felt awful afterwards. Get off your high horse and accept that some people really do have food limitations. If you can handle bread, pasta, etc, good for you...I actually really do wish I could too, but I can't.

I agree with you that grains are not the devil, but it is pretty common to have symptoms that aren't deadly and put up with them. Eczema, heartburn, binge cycles and falling asleep at 3pm are all things that eliminating grains have eliminated from my life. I had NO IDEA grains caused this stuff. I thought maybe eating white flour kept me fat.

I still eat the occasional- very occasional grains, but I am not really missing bread or cereal at all. I don't think anyone actually cares that the OP ate a sandwich, just that he said "HEY, I ate a sandwich, feel great y'all are fools".

People react differently to different foods. My husband has no trouble with grains, but beef makes him ill. It doesn't make beef bad for me or grains something he should avoid. It just means we tolerate different foods. If grains are important to you as the basis of your diet, then why try primal? Go eat what most health authorities reccommend. But don't criticize people who avoid grains and see better health. I'm sure most of us have given eating grains a pretty fair shot. It's when I gave them up that my life improved.

    Boom, right there.

Stumprrp also can't fathom going more than 14 hours without eating. Some things work for some people, and not for others.

It sounds like stumprrp has never had a 'nuisance illness'....rosacea, eczema, acne, dysmenorrhea, nonspecific joint pain, IBS, migraines, minor depression. Stuff that's debilitating to the patient but for which doctors can't really provide any help. Quitting grains really helped my dysmenorrhea, rosacea and migraines where the docs basically said, we can give you pain meds or you can suck it up, but none of these things are "serious". Will the world end if I eat pasta? No, but I'll feel hungover and look like a barfly for a couple days.

I tend to think hacking your diet can have a positive effect on a lot of these so-called minor complaints (which aren't minor at all). So can exercise. Its exciting when you've suffered your whole life and been told there's no help, to discover the answer yourself. I don't think grains are going to make you drop dead (unless you're terribly allergic) but I do think cutting them out is exciting for a lot of us because NOTHING EVER WORKED and we finally found something that did.

Grains aren't evil...for lots of people. I tolerate dairy really well, grains not at all. Everyone's a little different.

Side note: I found this site and consequently quit grains because my boyfriend refused to order pizza one night told me I "turn into an a-hole and get sick" every time we ate pizza. I honestly had no idea. The difference between how I felt then and how I felt now is incredible, but I never would've known if I hadn't quit...I thought that was just normal. I guess I'm not a (total) natural born a-hole!

10 pages in, and finally Barefoot Gentile decides to step back in to hostile water.

Dude, you ate a sammich. So? Want someone to change your diaper?

Calling primal eating dangerous is just laughable. The proof is in the pudding. We have people here who are controlling their epilepsy while in ketosis; diabetics who've rid themselves of symptoms eating primal.

If you don't agree with our Way of Eating, why are you here at all? To flaunt your card-loading ways? It's seriously lame.

I'm gonna go fry up some bacon and liver and eat the fuck out of it. OOH! OOH! DOES ANYONE CARE?!?!!!! PLEASE! I HOPE SO!
    A Post-Primal PrimalPat

Do not allow yourself to become wrapped up in a food 'lifestyle'. That is ego, and you are not that.

I guess i'm just a rare person. Ive always had a steel stomach so they say. I'm sorry if i came off like an ass to anybody but i just had to get that off my chest.

No, i cant fathom going without eating for 14 hours. I guess being 23, 225 pounds, pretty muscular and training my ass off has something to do with that lol.

To eaches own folks. I had potatoes and strawberrys today instead of the sprouted grain bread and its certainly more tasty ill tell you that.
