Painful ankles - any thoughts
For a couple of months now I have been experiencing mild pain in my ankle joints. Not sure what is causing it but the only exercise I do that might affect it is squats. I also have this habit when sitting to roll my feet on their sides which I thought was the cause. But I really make an effort not to do it now so I don't think that is the culprit.
After a bit of internet research ( big mistake) I came up with possibility of arthritic joint pain. I'm reluctant to go to the doc because once he hears about my diet he'll advise me to eat some "healthy wholegrains" or similar.
Background info: I'm 46, fairly active and work out 3 times a week, mountain bike on weekends. Primal diet plus milk and potatoes because I'm a skinny runt!
Anyone out there got any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Well, I have subtalar degenerative joint disease... i've had two separate arthroscopic surgeries, both of which helped immensely, but the pain always returns after a while. I've also had cortisone shots, the first several of which were hugely helpful, but now they don't seem to work so well. You might want to look into that and see if that could be the problem. The interesting thing is that it's both your ankles... mine is only my left one. I'm not sure if both your ankles at the same time means it could be something else.
(and for the record, I spent the last 12 years eating 'healthy wholegrains' and it didn't help in the least. ;-)
Thanks palebluedots. You've given me something to look into. I hope your situation improves for you.
same to you! let me know what you decide to do.
