How long does coconut milk last once the can is opened?

    Primal Fuel
Once a can of coconut milk is opened/refrigerated, how long does it really last? The can says "Use within 4 days," but I can't tell if that's because it really does go bad after 4 days or if the company just wants me to buy more coconut milk.

    Thanks in advance...

Usually canned coconut milk doesn't last long for me! But, there have been times where I've still consumed out of the can in my fridge (which I keep covered in foil) for up to 4 or 5 days without issue. Sometimes the texture is a bit grainy when it's been sitting in the fridge for so long, but other than that it's fine.

I pour the leftover milk in a glass jar and close it tightly. In the coldest part of my fridge it seems to last even longer than a week.

I find it tastes off in a matter of 1 day. That's the max I would store it.

The texture changes and it becomes less fragrant.

    Freeze it.

My 3-smoothie recipe uses 1/2 cup greek yogurt and 1/2 cup co milk. I pour ~1/2 of each into a cup container and freezer it, and pull one out each time I make smoothies.

    Huh.

Okay, much appreciated, everyone. Many thanks. I'll ditch what I have and buy a new can. (And a mandolin. I desperately need a mandolin.)

I only put 65g in my coffee every morning, so as long as it takes to get through
the can, that's how long it's in the fridge, in its own can, with a sammich bag over
    the top.

400ml divided by 65 is 6.5 days... So that's how long I've ever had it opened in
    the fridge I guess.

That's all I do and I haven't died yet, nor have I tasted ANY differences.

I use the whole foods brand.

I put it in a glass jar if it's going to be longer than a few days for me to finish it. However I've kept it *much* longer than four days -- it goes a little gray, and sometimes gets sour, but what can I say? I finish it anyway.

I was throwing away too many cans... so what I do now is open a can and use it for whatever I need and what ever is left I put into those small little tupperware containers that hold 1/2 c each and put those in the freezer. They taste fine once defrosted.

As a brief aside just last week I had a glass jar with some leftover coconut milk in it. Maybe 2-3 weeks old. The smell was AWFUL. So don't wait that long
