Yup. Try smaller amounts and also regular sweet peppers. If you get cramping and gas while eating mildly spicy or eating sweet peppers then you are probably sensitive to them and then you should avoid them, unless you don't care about the after effects.
I have found that roasted sweet peppers don't bother me as much.
