I'm wondering if the Australian members on here can help me out. I canít seem to find any supplier whose pork is pastured fed 100% of the time. I'm wondering where you guys get your pork from?
Thank you in advance.
I've managed to snag some from farmers markets that are frequent around Melbourne on a Saturday morning. Can't recall the farm/brand but I do remember it being rare breed, grass fed pork.
not sure about melbourne though.. can guarantee this pork is phenomenal. bought a 5k shoulder and did the slow roasting for 7 hours. melts in your mouth. hope you can find an outlet for down there.
uh... pigs are not herbivores; they're omnivores like us. they can be free range, but not completely grass-fed. just fyi.
What you want is sustainably raised pork.
these guys look good to. Free delivery in Qld. Not sure Vic.
My family used to grow a few pigs and I can tell you now they are NOT cattle. A pasture fed pig is like a vegetarian - undernourished and sickly. Pigs are mostly scavengers meaning they can eat dead (even rotting carcasses) animals, vegetables, food scraps and are one of the few animals I think that can eat a moderate amount of grain without any side effects. However I don't know where you find pigs fed a proper diet.
