Wow I had this same question. I don't drink coffee all that often but when I do its almost always when I'm sitting around doing nothing.
Should i refrain from drinking coffee, decaf or otherwise, in the afternoon after i've completed a workout and am just lounging around and probably won't do much of anything the rest of the day?
also does coffee help aide gut health or hinder it. I've seen conflicting reports on this.

I drink at least half a pot every day, with coconut milk, usually upon waking. But I can have coffee anytime and usually fall asleep just fine. I like it before I work out, definitely feels better that way.
It seems, in my N=1, that once I cross that threshold of casual drinker to daily drinker, additional coffee makes little difference to me. But if I am only drinking two or three cups a day and then have more late in the day, it does mess with me. Gray zone, there.
Gut health? Helps me poop. That's pretty useful.

Try Crio Bru instead. It's roasted ground cacao nibs that you brew like coffee. More antioxidants, lower acidity. Just a sugestion![]()

What? Crio Bru? It costs about the same as a good bag of joe-- about $6 or $7 for 12 oz (also it's produced here in Utah, so of course I'm all about promoting a local product).

Enjoy your coffee and cream or coconut milk and stop worrying about. It's all good.
