Coconut Oil...Does Trader Joes or Whole Foods have this? page 2

My latest dessert--dipping fresh cool strawberries in the liquid coconut oil...some of it coagulates, most of it drips off, but WOW does it taste good! 2 or 3 of those and I'm set.

Okay, so I looked at the TJ brand and it says it's organic virgin like you say, so that should be fine than. I have not noticed coconut oil in the regular grocery store and I really don't care much for Whole Foods but I will go there for certain things I can't get elsewhere. I am just glad TJ's has the good kind of coconut oil.

Look in the organic/health food section of your grocery store. It will be there.

Tropical Traditions is really good. No need to get organic because most coconut trees are grown in organic conditions.

Coconut oil in a regular grocery store is horribly overpriced.

My publix sells 16 oz. Nutiva for around $20.

I regularly buy tubs of 54 oz. Nutiva off the internet for around $25.

Do the math.

I've bought from both Amazon and Swanson.

Costco has it!!! Extra virgin, organic, pressed, all that stuff! $15 for a huge tub. I love it. Best value around. At my grocery store, a small jar (maybe 12 oz) is like $8. The costco one is at least 4x that. I recommend looking into it if there's a Costco near you.

I haven't tried it yet either. I noticed there were only a few bottles left at my area Trader Joe's. That could be a good sign.

Whole Foods sells their 365 brand Coconut Oil for a reasonable price. Coconut Oil is one of those few things that is usually much cheaper at Whole Foods than it is at a mainstream Supermarket. But if you are looking for absolute value nothing beats ordering Nutiva online from Amazon.
