    Neuropathy/atrophy

    Primal Fuel
This might be in the wrong section, but I am pretty sure this is a nutrition issue. I just spent 16 days in the ICU for a combined chest infection and got diagnosed with GERD while in there. Needless to say my diet was pretty far from primal while in there, and I lost almost 10 pounds, mostly muscle. Now that I have been realeased I have severe neuropathy of both feet and calves. At night the pain is almost unbearable and walking is difficult at best.

So my question is this; apart from moving around to rebuild my muscle strength, is there any foods that help/hurt neuropathy? I've been taking a lot of vitamins and trying to eat 100% clean but nothing seems to have much of an effect. I read somewhere that fructose can aggrevate it so I cut that out for a few days but it only got worse.

Any advice, tips, ideas would be helpful.

I don't know about that, but I do notice that, on days that I eat gluten, I get crampy toes and restless legs. When I don't eat gluten, they feel fine.

I have no nutrition advice to offer. I hope you find something that works for you and I send you positive thoughts. Is it worth going to your doc and asking for a trial of low dose Neurontin or Lyrica? I know people like to stay away from meds if at all possible, but a low dose may alleviate the pain enough to where you can really work on getting some muscle tone back and then you can ease off and taper yourself off of it. I know that's probably not a popular point of view, but I thought I'd throw that out there. Good luck and I hope you find some solutions that work for you.

methylated sublingual vitamin B12 and alpha lipoic acid may help with the peripheral neuropathy.
Using low lectin/nightshade free primal to control autoimmune arthritis. (And lost 50 lbs along the way )
