    Noob waist measurement for guys

For those of us with a bit of a gut, do you measure your waist around your belly button or down around your hips? If the guideline for reduced risk of metabolic syndrome is to get under a 40" waist, where exactly is this? I wear my belt around my hips (i.e. my "waist"), not up by my bellybutton Fred Murtz style. Thoughts?

Be honest with yourself. The measure should be parallel with the ground

The problem with modern medicine is that doctors don't view the prescription of drugs as a failure to keep you healthy

Yes, parallel to the ground, but how high relative to belly button?

I disagree with sticking your gut out like the video shows. I think it should just be a natural pose -- no inhaling or exhaling or abnormal contortion.
