I cook with Nutiva Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil that you can buy on Amazon. Delicious!

VitaCost 54 ounce size Coconut oil is around 20 bucks from their site--and free shipping over 25.00 on their products so I usually buy two at a time. Absolutely delicious--as good as any of the "name brands". I usually decant into smaller glass jars when I get it "hot" off the UPS truck. Since it is already liquid from our hot summer, easy to just pour. Great value all around

Tropical Traditions, Something Pure, Ojio, Spectrum, and Nutiva-- all great brands.

    Whole Foods 365 Coconut Oil

What a coincidence?! I just got back from Whole Foods and was going to post about coconut oil. I bought a jar of the Whole Foods 365 brand. It was half the price of Spectrum and a couple other exotic looking brands. Cost less than $8 compared to $15+. The label said 100% organic expeller pressed unrefined virgin coconut oil. How can you get better than that? I just sautéed some farm fresh yellow squash and it was fantastic-much better than Kerrygold unsalted butter. Loved the smell and taste. Can't wait to scramble some eggs with it. Nutiva, Spectrum, etc may be better, but this Whole Food brand is good enough for me.

PS This is my first experience with coconut oil so maybe any brand would taste good?

I've used Spectrum and Trader Joe's, and was satisfied with both.

I'm curious, what is the "freezing point" of coconut oil? Mine was solid all winter and turned liquid when summer hit and the temperature in the house got into the low to mid 70s.

It turns liquid at about 75 degrees Fahrenheit. I always get either Whole Foods 365 Brand or Dr. Bronner's. Dr. Bronner's is my favorite, but costs more so usually only buy it when it is on sale. Nutiva is tasty and has really good prices if you buy online, but is expensive at my local Supermarkets (don't know if that holds true nationally though). Spectrum is really overpriced too for being a brand that has never really been associated with "premium". I tried it once, and though decent, the cheaper 365 Brand tastes better.
