I have searched everywhere for an answer to this question, so forgive the intrusion.
Ketones are left over carbon from your body burning fat for fuel. I am on a Primal diet of 5% carbs (aim for 0, but that is almost impossible), 35% protein, 60% fat (to keep the protein to a reasonable number). Will I excrete ketones from the consumed fat being burned for fuel or is there a difference when burning stored body fat?
Simply: Will burning eaten fat for fuel turn a Keto Stick purple like burning stored body fat for fuel.
Thanks for the help.
Simply, no it wont. Ketone bodies are released when stored fat is mobilized for energy, they are not a product of regular digestion.
For more information on ketosis I recommend the website of Dr. Attia, The Eating Academy and the Hyperlipid site.
The book, "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living" by Phinney and Volek is also an excellent resource.
