Did another 2.5 miles this morning. I'm a slow walker - it takes me about 45 minutes to do the 2.5 miles. My first goal is to work my way up to 5 miles. Maybe this will mean going walking twice in a day. Dunno. But I've got to get to Rivendell, gosh darn it!
Signed up using my fitbit data from 7/26 forward. Should be fun. Though, it feels kind of like cheating when you're over six feet tall....3,600 miles is a lot fewer steps to me than to a hobbit (thank you, stride length).
Can usually hit about 4,300 steps a day without any extra effort, and then I try to walk at nights to hit 10k or so. Hit 17,000 the other day (while golfing, of all things), personal high (on the tracker, anyway).
Minor aside, do you get those from an online source, or borrow from the library? I listen to a bunch of podcasts, but books would be good too. Thx. (and, just to use google to answer my own question, booksshouldbefree.com is one option). Audible & audiobooks.com seem a bit pricey in the $ 15-25/month range. Not sure I 'need' it that badly...

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing it.
I did some math. It's 1779 miles from Hobbiton to Mount Doom.
To do it within a year, you would need to walk 148.25 miles per month, or 34.21 miles per week. That's 4.88 miles per day. It seems doable if you can stick with it!

Our body is our subconscious mind, and anybody who thinks that their conscious mind is running the show is seriously mistaken. In fact the conscious mind just may be the most narcissistic entity in the universe, it thinks it's running the show. It's not.

Man! I've been walking to and from work since March and I haven't even made it to Rivendell yet(approx. 360/458 miles)
I just started doing this on Friday. I've been walking 2.5 miles each day. I'm going to bump it up to 5 miles beginning tomorrow. Rah!
According to google maps:
Use caution--One does not simply walk into Mordor.
Search for directions from rivendell to Mordor, make sure to select walking directions
