New here: trying to balance Primal with low glutamate diet

Hey! Three weeks in to the Primal Living and my waist has gone down from 29" to 26"! I've lived a lifetime of trying new diets and working to abandon my sugar habit. I think the addition of protein and fat (former eating disorder kid of the 80s, so this was hard for me) is doing the trick. So, my question is this (and maybe not for this Meet/Greet thread): My chiropractor and I are embarking on a functional medicine journey together to deal with chronic inflammation. According to urinalysis, I need to reduce my glutamate/glutamic acid intake. Seems most protein sources are high in glutamate. I know it isn't that simple, so I'm thinking of ignoring glutamate content in foods while I adjust to the Primal diet, and see what happens if/when I retest urine.
So, I am 47 and in perimenopause. I'm sure many of you know what that means. I've been physically active since my early 20s (biking, running, training) but developed scoliosis over the past 10 years. The inflammation resulted in lots of aches/pains and a reduction in my physical activity. I've noticed a clear decrease of tension in my neck/shoulders/back that I can only attribute to a decrease in inflammation. I feel great! I do not need to lose weight, but I'd love to increase muscle mass and strength.
I have experienced the crappy detox feeling with fatigue. For the past 2 weeks I've had what I could call a cold. It is on its way out.
Too much information, but I could go on forever. I am just happy. Nice to meet you all.
Pam
