    I chose other. I eat:
meat (mostly grassfed or at least organic), fish, shellfish
    vegetables, mostly local
lots of dairy--raw milk kefir in my smoothie, cheese on my salad, a glass of milk a day (low temperature pasturized, not homogenized), cultured cream on my fruit
lots of fruit--2-3 servings a day, this time of year peaches and berries but also 1/2 to 1 banana
1/2 a sweet potato maybe once a week

    I don't eat:
    grain
    beans
oils other than olive, avocado, or coconut

My cheats might be fried onion threads or beans on a salad in a restaurant or a chocolate mousse made with some sugar. A big cheat a couple of weeks ago (which I may repeat) was fried calamari on a salad.

New primal covers me pretty well. The only dairy I eat is some heavy cream in my morning coffee. The rest of the day I drink it black. Some kefir or lebne a few times month for fermented dairy. I eat some sweet potatoes and pumpkin but not rice. Staying in the 40-50 net grams of carbs a day area since weight loss is my goal right now.

Today is a fairly typical day:

    Breakfast:
    Liver, 2 eggs and coffee

    Lunch:
Can of salmon w/bones and skin
    mustard
    Lara bar

    Dinner:
I will make pork chops, beets, maybe some beet greens and if there's a ripe avocado, slice up one of those. Wine and chocolate probably, too.

I'm surprised to find that I fit into the "strict paleo" category. I didn't think I was that strict. But at this point I consider anything that's not meat/eggs/non-starchy vegetables to be a cheat. I do eat local grassfed butter and coconut oil, though.

But otherwise: no grain, no dairy, no alcohol, no beans, no peanuts, no fruit, no potatoes, no sweet potatoes, no vegetable oils, no rice, etc.

I do 80/20, though, and will occasionally cheat. Generally this is with fruit. Sometimes 85% chocolate. Sometimes peanut butter. Sometimes cheese or (rarely) ice cream. But dairy hurts my stomach, and peanut butter gives me headaches, so I have to really want it for it to be worth it.

Honestly, I think about cheating more than I really do.

I have gone back to eating nearly anything as long as it is recognizably food (including things that are highly processed, but still made from recognizably food substances, like quality ice cream), including grains and sugar. I eat lots of sourdough bread nowadays, as well as rice, beans, potatoes (white or sweet), oats, etc. I put honey and molasses on stuff and I eat potato chips (olive oil chips only though). I'm still avoiding soy because I'm still afraid of growing moobs.

It started out as an experiment, because my body temperature was low and I wasn't feeling my best. I did gain about 15 pounds in a month or so when I was eating a pint of ice cream a day, as would be expected, BUT it wasn't all fat--I put on some lean mass and added some strength as well. I'm done with that now and my weight and waistline are again shrinking gradually. I'm definitely fatter than I was at 185, but I'm noticeably leaner than I was the last time I weighed 200. I expect I'll be back where I was in a few months, fat-wise, and then we'll see where it goes from there.

    So yeah, I clicked "other".
Today I will: Eat food, not poison. Plan for success, not settle for failure. Live my real life, not a virtual one. Move and grow, not sit and die.

    Primal, with the following tweaks:

dairy: goat / sheep milk cheese, cow's cream
alcohol: on holidays - wine or hard liquor (no beer - never liked the stuff)

in-season fruit I consider healthy, not a tweak, but I never fruit binge anyway, so no issue
veggie carbs I consider healthy, not a tweak (I can't do VLC), yeah, obviously don't binge on these
nut thing I consider healthy, but I can tolerate them and use sparingly anyway, so no issue
