I went on that thread and basically said mammograms were not Satan on a stick.
Apparently I'm part of the conspiracy. So I bailed.

“The whole concept of a macronutrient, like that of a calorie, is determining our language game in such a way that the conversation is not making sense." - Dr. Kurt Harris
I have 3 kids. Currently ages `14, 15, and 16. They were 11, 12, and 13 when I first started on Paleo. The middle child was (and remains) a vegetarian. The other two are happy happy carnivores. Their mother raised them all on fruit more than candy/cakes when they were younger, so the transition was admittedly easier for us.
Today my kids could eat those 30-BAD bastards into the ground and still put down their fair share of roast Moose and Bacon. You're right kids do thrive on tons of carbs but that doesn't have to equal wheat or almond meal. My kids make banana/cocoa ice cream where bananas and unsweetened cocoa powder are the only ingredients, they devour almond butter covered apple slices and bananas. They inhale peaches and berries in cream. The boy eats almonds by the fistful. They have none of them met a sweet potato drowned in sour cream that they didn't know how to put away with room for more. And believe it or not they actually like salad with the right yummy fat doused on top.
Two of them really could put the fear of God into aforementioned Moose and Bacon. My middle child is still a vegetarian and since learning how to saute her own peppers, onions and zucchini in coconut oil will probably never come back to the dark side.
Admittedly kids raised full blown SAD are harder to convert, but I don't think it has to be the impossible trial it is sometimes made out to be. Especially if you have a supportive spouse helping rather than hindering. Which I am admittedly lucky to have.
Here's the thing. I've seen this attitude in a lot of threads on these forums. But I really haven't seen it in this thread as much as a few people are claiming.
If people need workarounds and bends in the rules by all means. I came into this thread speaking for no one but myself and I"ll leave singing the same tune.
