    That's a great idea!

So I am going tonite for my tux fitting. First I have to stop and get our CSA share box. This week they add "specialty products," which we signed up for before going primal. The specialty items are typically artisan breads, fancy cheeses and bakery treats. Now that I'm Primal, we generally give this stuff to friends and family, and we'll do this again with this, but first I'll have to drive all of this fresh bakery stuff home and I'm just 8 hours into a 48 hour fast...

    But I will be strong.

If you're looking to clear yourself out I find that a hot beverage on an empty stomach is enough to do so. Usually within the hour too. That's only if there is stuff to be cleared in the first place. You could always eat something your stomach would react to and fire it out if it's an emergency Of course then you'll just have a different emergency on your hands...

Well I hope not on your hands but you know what I mean

I'll be a hot drink pounding, gum chewing, tuxedo wearing, dancing fool come Saturday. I just hope that it's the Fox Trot I am doing and not just "the trots!" ;-)

Now I am 26 hours into the fast. This is the "sweet spot" for me. I'm not hungry at all, mental clarity is remarkable and I feel light and full of energy. This AM my weight was down by two pounds (most of this will come back after three days eating normally).

But the best thing is my mood! I'm really happy and content, eager to get things done and feeling confident. I read in one of the many books that this feeling after a period of fasting is your bodies way of making you go out and hunt.

    Very cool.

I just signed up for organic veggie delivery, but we aren't locked in for long-term contracts. I can change things up pretty well any time. The others available in town looked similarly flexible. You can't modify things?

No, this is a local farm and they provide what they grow (or trade with other local farms). The food is not organic in that they are not certified organic, but they observe good practice, and in talking to the organizers, stewardship of the land is important as well as providing wholesome food to the local community at reasonable prices. I remember going to this farm for apples and cider as a child (their main business), so it is filled with memories. The season is nearly over now, next week or the week after finishes it.

I'm going to miss it. Next year we will probably skip the specialty items.

Going on hour 36 of the fast, still good and feeling great!

Gotcha. The farm I'm ordering from has greenhouses, and also freezes produce during the summer, as well as having some arrangements with a local mushroom grower and what not, so they keep the deliveries going all year. It should be fun. No avocados though... *sniff*

I am nearing the end of the fast, currently on hour 46. I'm not at all hungry (though to be honest I rarely am in the morning). It was interesting, when I have fasted (this is the third time) I always sleep well.

Last night I slept 9 full hours. I generally get only 7 or 8 and this is more than the 6 I got before going Primal. Last night, I had vivid dreams. I dreamt that I was coming off the fast and needed to figure out what food to break my fast with. I looked into the fridge, and there was a container of steamed chinese dumplings and sauce and I ate the whole thing! I don't even really like them all that much. Why my subconscious mind would pick that particular food to fantasize about mystifies me?

It will likely be something a little more mundane (and available) like a tin of sardines or an omelet.

So my weight is now at 235.5, so the weight loss is 5lbs. I'll put some of that back on eating normally, but not all.

This AM I have a bit of headache and am feeling a little foggy, not unpleasant, just dull. Coffee might help that.

Thanks for posting how you are feeling. I always think it is so interesting to read the experience as it is going on, not just a recap afterwards, when you might not remember everything.

Good luck in breaking your fast. And here's hoping to no ill-timed effects.

Thanks for sharing your experiences during your fast. I am thinking a lot about doing longer fasts occasionally. To be honest I always thought that was bunkum before...just goes to show that an old doggette can learn new tricks. My own modest 26-hour fast last week went well, although I would prefer to time things differently. Also, I know that I am now a fat-burning beast because I was able to talk the lab tech at work into testing me regularly over the last few months. At first ketones appeared regularly in my urine, then disappeared. This is normal because the body, particularly the brain, learns to burn the ketones for energy. During this entire time, my blood sugar remained rock solid at 80-100 mg/dl regardless of whether or not I had eaten. So I am not experiencing those highs and lows. I don't miss them.

Anyway, I'm babbling, but I did want to mention one more thing - I don't doubt you are stronger through your diet as I know that I am also. Yes, I am have been lifting my hammer and swimming. But even before I started these things I noticed a significant change in my strength. I believe the strength increase is why I was able to do these things quite easily when I took them up. Also the difference I have noticed in my cats, who have had only a diet change, is almost amazing. They look like cheetahs! Now we aren't cats, but we aren't so unlike them either. Okay, I will stop now!
